Nick Browne, Essex’s former opening batter, has taken his first step into a post-playing career by joining the club’s women’s set-up as assistant coach and batting lead.Browne, 34, announced his retirement at the end of the 2025 County Championship season, having amassed nearly 10,000 runs across all formats, including 22 centuries and a best of 255 against Derbyshire in 2016.His appointment follows that of Stephen Parry, the former left-arm spinner, who was last week announced as Essex Women’s new head coach, following the departure of Andy Tennant earlier this year. Cath Dalton, the club’s former academy coach, has also been named as seam-bowling lead to complete the squad’s overhaul, after a disappointing maiden season as a Tier 1 women’s team last year.Browne said: “I am really enthusiastic at this new challenge and chapter. يرى جيمي ريدناب محلل الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز أن محمد صلاح قد يغادر ليفربول في يناير، وتوقع ألا تنتهي مسيرة اللاعب المصري بشكل جيد.
وجلس النجم المصري محمد صلاح على مقاعد البدلاء أمام سندرلاند، وهي المباراة الثانية على التوالي التي يجلس فيها اللاعب ويتم استبعاده من التشكيل الأساسي.
وتوقع جيمي ريدناب أن صلاح لا يشعر بالسعادة حالياً، بسبب جلوسه على دكة البدلاء وادعى أن رحيله عن ليفربول قد يكون وشيكاً.
وقال ريدناب في تصريحات لـ”سكاي سبورت”: “إنه لاعب عظيم في الدوري الإنجليزي ولاعب عظيم في ليفربول، ولذلك لا أعتقد أن النهاية ستكون سعيدة”

وسئل ريدناب إذا كان يعتقد أن مسيرة صلاح مع ليفربول تقترب من نهايتها: “لا أعتقد أن ما يحدث سيحسن الوضع إطلاقاً، لا شئ يفاجئني في كرة القدم، سواء في يناير أو ربما في الصيف، أعتقد أنه إذا جاء النادي المناسب، أعتقد أن صلاح سيقرر، وقد يقول إذا لم أكن لاعباً أساسياً معكم فأنا لست من أولئك اللاعبين الذين يرغبون في البقاء فسأذهب أينما يتطلب الأمر”.
وأتم: “أعتقد أن رغبة صلاح تبقى البقاء في أوروبا، سنرى إذا كان سيذهب للسعودية لأنه لاعب أسطوري في هذه المنطقة من العالم، أو سينتقل للولايات المتحدة”.
وختم عن ليفربول ووضع محمد صلاح معه هذا الموسم: “إنه ليس لاعب لا غني عنه، الوقت لا ينتظر أحد، وسيكون الأمر صعباً على الجميع، إنهم يعيدون بناء الفريق، وقد لا يكون هذا عامهم ولكن بالنظر لأعمار هذه المجموعة، لديهم الكثير من اللاعبين الشباب، عليهم البدء في بناء الفريق حول لاعبين مثل فيرتز وإيزاك،ومهما كان أداؤه فكل شئ وارد”.

Hoje temos um dos melhores camisas 10 do país e estamos muito contentes com isso. Ele tem que seguir melhorando, a briga interna é grande. Mas estamos muito contentes com ele.
– Tem que ver nas estatísticas quantas vezes o Dimi toca na bola por dentro e quantas toca por fora. Na recuperação ele tem que ocupar um certo espaço taticamente, mas tem liberdade total para jogar onde quiser da metade do campo para frente. تحدث تشابي ألونسو، المدير الفني للفريق الأول لكرة القدم بنادي ريال مدريد عن خسارة فريقه أمام مانشستر سيتي ضمن منافسات دوري أبطال أوروبا.
وخسر ريال مدريد أمام مانشستر سيتي بثنائية مقابل هدف في المباراة التي جمعتهما أمس، الأربعاء، ضمن منافسات الجولة السادسة من مرحلة الدوري لبطولة دوري أبطال أوروبا.
وقال ألونسو، في تصريحات عبر صحيفة “آس”: “لا أحد منا يلوم نفسه، لقد حاولنا حتى النهاية، بدأنا بشكل جيد وتقدمنا في النتيجة لكن في بعض الأحيان تكون الانتكاسة مؤلمة أكثر وهذا ما حدث”.
وأكمل: “في غضون عشر دقائق، من ركلة ركنية وركلة جزاء، تقدموا في النتيجة، في وقت كانت فيه المباراة قوية وتنافسية لكننا استقبلنا هدفًا، لم نسيطر على تلك المواقف جيدًا ثم حاول الفريق مرة أخرى، سواء كان ذلك جيدًا أم سيئًا، فقد حاولنا حتى النهاية وأتيحت لنا فرص لكننا افتقرنا إلى اللمسة الأخيرة لتسجيل هدف، ليس لدي ما ألوم أي شخص عليه”.
وأضاف: “عندما تكون في موقف حرج ليس فقط من حيث أدائنا بل أيضًا بالنظر إلى المباراة السابقة والإصابات التي نعاني منها حاليًا، تشعر بأنك أقل تماسكًا وهذا ما سمح لهم بالعودة بسرعة كبيرة”.
وتابع: “في مثل هذه المباريات، عليك ألا تستقبل الكثير من الأهداف وقد فعلنا لكن ذلك لم يكن كافيًا لهم، قلبوا النتيجة لصالحهم، كانت لا تزال لديك فرصًا للتسجيل، بعضها في الشوط الثاني لكننا لم نستغلها”.

وأتبع: “صافرات استهجان جماهير برنابيو؟ مررنا بلحظات كثيرة، بعضها كان تشجيعًا ودعمًا حتى النهاية، لقد بذلنا قصارى جهدنا ومن الواضح أننا غير راضين عن أدائنا الحالي لكن ليس لدي أي لوم على اللاعبين، ولا ألوم الجماهير أبدًا فهم شاهدوا الكثير ويعرفون الكثير عن هذا الأمر”.
وحول الجدل التحكيمي، استطرد: ” في الهدف الأول، منعوا كورتوا قليلًا، حسنًا هذه لقطات أفسرها بشكل مختلف من وجهة نظري، الحكم رآها كذلك، وكان قراره حاسمًا، لا أعرف لم أتمكن من مشاهدتها مرة أخرى”.
وعن عناق رودريجو له بعد تسجيل الهدف: “أنا سعيد جدًا لأجله لأنه كان يمر بفترة صعبة ولم يكن يلعب كثيرًا واليوم كان رودريجو رائعًا، لعب بشكل ممتاز، وكان له تأثير كبير على مجريات المباراة وسجل ذلك الهدف وهو أمر في غاية الأهمية بالنسبة له، من أفضل الأشياء التي حدثت اليوم أننا رأيناه يلعب وظهر جيدًا للغاية ثم هناك دعم الجماهير والفريق، كل هذا موجود ومعًا سنقلب الأمور رأسًا على عقب، أنا ممتن لذلك”.
واسترسل: “أكثر ما أعجبني هو أداء رودريجو، رؤيته بتلك الجودة الفردية وتلك القدرة على المراوغة، بالإضافة إلى الهدف، كان أمرًا إيجابيًا للغاية”.
وعن حالة مبابي: “من المبكر جدًا معرفة ما إذا كان سيكون متاحًا لمباراة الأحد، من الواضح أنه لم يتمكن من اللعب اليوم، افتقدناه اليوم كثيرًا رغم أننا أتيحت لنا فرص كافية لتسجيل هدف ثاني لكنها لم تدخل المرمى”.
وبسؤاله حول تواصل فلورنتينو بيريز، رئيس ريال مدريد معه أجاب ألونسو: “لا لم نلتقي”.
حول ما قاله بيب جوارديولا عنه في المؤتمر الصحفي قبل المباراة، أوضح: “نحن نعرف بعضنا البعض جيدًا وهو يعلم جيدًا ما كان يقوله ولا داعي للتعليق على تصريحاته”.

Jonathan Trott believes Afghanistan will start as “slight favourites” against Bangladesh, who face a must-win situation, in their Asia Cup Group B fixture in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. And going by recent history, there’s merit in that confidence.”Since I’ve been with the side, we’ve had some memorable moments,” Trott said. “I think back to when we beat Bangladesh in a 50-over series in Bangladesh for the first time [in 2023]. It had never been done before, and given how strong Bangladesh have been at home, to go there and do that gave us a lot of confidence and positivity.”Then there was the win in St Vincent at the [2024] T20 World Cup, which helped us qualify for the semi-final. “Whenever there’s something that hasn’t been done before, like a big obstacle or a big challenge, this Afghan side rises to the occasion. They’re not only setting new standards for themselves but also paving the way for future players to keep pushing those boundaries.”Since opening their Asia Cup with a convincing win over Hong Kong on September 9, Afghanistan have had six days off. The break, in Trott’s opinion, has helped refresh them “mentally and physically” after the gruelling pre-Asia Cup tri-series against UAE and Pakistan, where they played five games in ten days.”I’m actually quite happy with the break,” he said. “Playing in the extreme heat here in the UAE takes a lot out of you. It’s been a good chance to recharge the batteries, take stock of where we are, and get ready to go again. Hopefully, with a win and qualification into the next round, we know there will be quite a few games in a short space of time.”At the opening press conference in Dubai, barely a few hours prior to their Asia Cup opener in Abu Dhabi, Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan had spoken of the short turnaround – less than 48 hours – between the tri-series final and the game against Hong Kong. He had also said that it wasn’t ideal to be staying in Dubai and having all their group games in Abu Dhabi, leaving them with an added commute of three hours on match days.Looking at the schedule and putting that break into context, Trott felt it wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. “I think our schedule has actually played into our hands, as long as we play well tomorrow and do the job in Abu Dhabi,” he said. “Playing there is very different to Dubai. “That’s the challenge of playing in these tournaments: you’re constantly adapting to a variety of conditions. I certainly feel that with our squad and the options we have, we can pick a side capable of winning in most conditions.”Trott, expectedly, talked up Afghanistan’s spin stocks, joking that they were good enough to field an XI of spinners if needed. There’s Rashid and Noor Ahmad as their frontline options, along with Mohammad Nabi. They have also got Mujeeb Ur Rahman, AM Ghazanfar and Sharafuddin Ashraf in the squad. That said, he felt that it wasn’t a given that Afghanistan would do well just because they had competent spinners.”We saw during the triangular series that just because the ball is spinning, it doesn’t automatically mean we’re going to win games,” Trott said. “We still have to do everything else well, and I stress that. Yes, our spinners have played a lot of franchise cricket and plenty of international T20 and ODI cricket, but we’ve got to be consistent across all departments. That’s why we work so hard as a side.”Right now, we have a great opportunity with the Asia Cup. Looking a bit further ahead, with the World Cup coming up in February, we have good memories of playing in the subcontinent – in Sri Lanka and India. It can be tempting to look too far ahead, but for now, Bangladesh is at the forefront of everyone’s mind, and we’re focused on winning that game.”

Such a deal would be a mammoth backing from the board, but how does the 23-year-old compare to current starters Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro?
Both the current Red Devils are experienced options, with both now over 30, but it hasn’t stopped Anderson from massively dominating the pair in such key areas.
The Englishman has topped 13 separate metrics in the Premier League this campaign, with many showcasing his talents with and without the ball at his feet.
He’s completed 113 passes into the final third, with his tally of 706 passes completed, the most of any player in the division – subsequently showcasing his fantastic ability in possession.

Without the ball, the youngster has also dominated, with such a skillset potentially putting an end to Casemiro’s career at Old Trafford at the end of the campaign.
Anderson has entered the most defensive duels of any player in the division, whilst also winning the most duels – potentially making him the perfect deep-lying option for Amorim’s side.
At just 23, the Forest star has all the tools to transform into an elite-level talent, but it remains to be seen if the hierarchy would be prepared to fork out £100m for his signature.
The United star who’s their homegrown version of Anderson
Given the rumoured price tag for Anderson’s signature, it shows the importance of being able to identify talent at a young age, or even produce your own versions from the academy setup.
United have no doubt shifted their recruitment focus over the last couple of months, as seen by their deals to land Diego Leon and Senne Lammens – with both talented youngsters with huge potential.
However, the academy ranks have also proven fruitful in recent years, as seen by the emergence of the Class of 92, with the graduates playing a huge role in Sir Alex Ferguson’s tenure.
The likes of David Beckham, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt have all operated at the heart of the side throughout their respective careers – helping the club win 13 separate Premier League titles.
The fans will no doubt be hoping that Anderson can add himself to such a list in the near future, but Amorim could save himself and the club millions by unleashing Kobbie Mainoo.
Like the aforementioned academy stars, the 20-year-old burst on the scene as a teenager, making an immediate impact and becoming a key member of the United squad.
His major breakthrough came in 2023/24, where the youngster racked up 32 appearances across all competitions, scoring on five separate occasions – many of which proved to be crucial efforts.
Mainoo scored a last-minute victory in a close clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers, whilst also scoring against bitter rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final triumph.
However, he’s been unable to reach such heights over the last 12 months, with current boss Amorim preferring the likes of Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte ahead of him.
Such a decision may come as a surprise to the fanbase, especially given his stats from last season, which saw him outperform Anderson in numerous key areas – that’s despite making just 25 league appearances.
Mainoo completed more of the passes he attempted, whilst also completing more of the crosses he attempted – leading to Alex Turk dubbing him a “future £100m+ footballer”.

He also completed more of the dribbles he attempted, whilst also being dispossessed on fewer occasions, subsequently showcasing his incredible ability in possession.
However, without the ball, Mainoo was dribbled past on fewer occasions, along with more interceptions made – highlighting he’s able to beat the £100m star when given the chance.
It’s evident that Mainoo is still a player with bags of talent, but the manager desperately needs to swallow his pride and hand the 20-year-old the chance to stake his claim as a first-team regular.
He’s for so often had to settle for minutes off the substitutes’ bench, which has no doubt hindered his chances of continuing his progression and building on his incredible start to his career in 2023/24.
Upon his return from injury in the near future, the 40-year-old needs to hand the youngster the opportunity to have a consistent run as a regular starter to allow him to reach his full potential at the Theatre of Dreams.
Such a decision would save the club millions of pounds, with the academy graduate having the chance to lead the Red Devils to new heights in the years ahead.
