Wolves fans pile the praise on Max Kilman following 1-0 defeat to Liverpool

Wolves fans have taken to Twitter to pile the praise on Max Kilman, following the youngster’s excellent performance in the 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

The 22-year-old was making just his second Premier League start of the campaign and his seventh start across all competitions, having also started three Europa League matches and two Carabao Cup games.

Kilman was unfortunate to be on the losing side against Jurgen Klopp’s men, as too were all of his Wolves teammates after Pedro Neto’s goal was ruled out when Jonny Otto was deemed to be offside by what seemed like a toenail.

Sadio Mane’s goal handed Liverpool a 1-0 victory, despite Kilman’s best efforts to keep the European champions out.

The Wolves No.49 won four aerial duels against the Reds, while also making four successful tackles, one interception, one block and four clearances.

Kilman also made 31 passes and registered one successful dribble, while certainly not looking out of place on a pitch containing some of the best players in the Premier League.

One fan said that Kilman was a “massive surprise” for Wolves against the Merseysiders, and also mentioned that the centre-back doesn’t look like a kid who came from playing non-league football.

This supporter – who owns an account named Wolves Fancast – said that amidst all the talk about VAR following the game, Kilman “deserves a mention” before stating that the youngster has risen to every challenge this season and also kept Mohamed Salah quiet all game, which is some achievement given the Egyptian’s qualities.

Two adjectives beginning with the letter ‘A’ were on show here, as this pair of Wolves supporters lauded Kilman through the use of the words “assured” and “awesome” – it’s hard to argue with those assessments given his commanding performance.

Elsewhere, this fan named Alex also said that Salah was kept quiet by Kilman, before going as far as saying that the match against Liverpool was the 22-year-old’s “best game for Wolves” – lofty praise indeed.

Lastly, Geoff simply stated that Kilman was “excellent” against Klopp’s side – it’s safe to say that the Wolves fringe man had a brilliant game at Anfield.

Real Madrid would make a huge mistake by offering Toni Kroos for Paul Pogba

According to a new report coming from The Sun, Real Madrid are ready to give Manchester United a choice between four of their stars, including their key player, Toni Kroos, on top of a huge sum of money in order to land Paul Pogba.

What’s the word, then?

The story linking Pogba with Los Blancos is a recurring one.

As the same source states, the Spanish giants have already tried their luck in the past but Man United wouldn’t budge.

Now, however, with the Frenchman desperate to leave and his teammates already accepting the fact he soon will depart, Real Madrid are once again hopeful.

And in this deal, as The Sun understand, the Red Devils are looking for a package of more than £160m, which could involve either of Kroos, Gareth Bale, Luka Modric or Isco.

But sacrificing the German midfielder to land Pogba simply doesn’t make sense for the Galacticos.

Irreplaceable

Kroos has been one of the most influential players for Zidane in the ongoing 2019/20 campaign.

Even when others were dropping their level and were largely inconsistent, the German was firing on all cylinders, dropping masterful performances along the way.

According to Whoscored, he is Real Madrid’s fifth-best player when it comes to pure ratings and has averaged 93.1% passing accuracy, 1.8 shots, 2.4 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per game this season.

Quickfire Quiz: How much do you know about Man Utd’s history in the January transfer window?

And that’s on top of his two goals and three assists in La Liga.

Would it really be worth it to sacrifice such an in-form player who still has a lot to give to this squad? All just to get a player who has only managed to play eight games since the beginning of the season?

For Man United, however, if they can truly get such a huge sum of money on top of a player of their choice, this deal would be incredible.

After all, with the Frenchman’s absence throughout the vast majority of the campaign, it’s already as if he’s gone. Of course, Pogba’s overall contribution should not be forgotten – after all, he scored 16 goals and assisted 11 in 2018/19 – but has been nowhere to be seen in 2019/20.

If they are truly to part ways with their star, they might as well get properly compensated in return.

And this is exactly what this particular deal would bring them.

In other news, many Manchester United fans were not happy with recent links with a player they feel is simply not good enough…

The reason Spurs could sell Foyth this month

This article is a special report; all information presented, unless otherwise stated, has been gleaned from Football FanCast sources.

Juan Foyth could leave Tottenham Hotspur this month as the club attempt to reduce the amount of foreign players in their squad, sources have told Football FanCast.

The young defender has struggled for minutes this season and has made just three appearances under manager Jose Mourinho, playing 90 minutes in the Champions League dead rubber against Bayern Munich and a total of 46 minutes versus Wolves and Norwich City. Against the Canaries, he was substituted at half-time.

Sources familiar with Spurs’ recruitment have told FFC that the club are actively attempting to move the 22-year-old out of the club, either on loan or on a permanent basis in this transfer window.

La Liga club Real Betis, from whom Spurs loaned Giovani Lo Celso in the summer, hold an interest in signing the centre-back, who has won 11 caps for Argentina.

Spurs currently have 17 non-locally trained players in their Champions League squad, per Football.London, but that number has increased to 18 with the signing of Gedson Fernandes from Benfica.

As a result, Spurs are making an attempt to move out a number of players and Foyth is perhaps the headline name that could depart north London.

Sources have also confirmed that Victor Wanyama is available, though no bids have yet been received for the former Celtic midfielder, while there is optimism that Christian Eriksen will leave the club before the end of the transfer window.

Inter Milan are in talks with the club over a January deal and it is said to have become a “priority” for Spurs to get that transfer over the line.

Michel Vorm, the goalkeeper re-signed earlier this season after Hugo Lloris’ elbow injury, could also be allowed to leave given the Frenchman’s impending return to fitness.

While a number of players have been offered to Tottenham in recent days, including the striker Ze Luis, their current priority is to shift out the deadwood.

Meanwhile, another club have entered the race for Christian Eriksen!

Man Utd’s Marcus Rashford injury has cost them a fear factor, says Jermaine Jenas

Writing for BBC Sport, former Premier League midfielder Jermaine Jenas has revealed Marcus Rashford’s injury has robbed Manchester United of a fear factor.

What did he say?

The England international was ruled out of the clash against Liverpool with an injury, and it was then later revealed by The Times journalist Henry Winter that the forward had suffered a double stress fracture to his back – it is now thought he will miss the next few weeks at least.

And Jenas has now claimed the Red Devils are going to suffer massively due to the “damaging” blow of losing Rashord, and urged them to go out and sign a striker in this January transfer window to help solve their problems.

He said: “Manchester United have been relying a lot on Marcus Rashford’s brilliance, so his absence is particularly damaging for them right now. A lot of the goals United have scored this season have come purely and simply down to Rashford doing something special.

“If Rashford was on the pitch at Anfield on Sunday, then there would have been fear in the Liverpool team straight away – because they know what he can do and how he can hurt them. Without him, United never looked convincing when they attacked, even when they had more of the ball in the second half. Other than Martial, the goal threat just was not there.

“So United have to do something, because they do not have a number nine while Rashford is out. I know players are not easy to get in January, but they are out there. This is United we are talking about – money should not be an issue.”

Necessity

If there were suggestions United needed a front-line striker even before Rashford’s injury – the Red Devils have scored just 36 goals this season in the Premier League – then those calls will only have intensified now. The academy product has been one of the leading lights for the Manchester side, scoring 19 times across all competitions. But relying on a 22-year-old to fire them to glory is a tall order indeed.

Quickfire Quiz: How much do you know about Man Utd’s history in the January transfer window?

The injury should surely force Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side into action in this January window, and get them to rectify a mistake they made in the summer when they chose not to replace Belgium international Romelu Lukaku. It may not be in the circumstances United may have wanted, but signing a new striker this month now absolutely has to be on the agenda.

Meanwhile, Manchester United fans discuss their transfer battle with Chelsea over this starlet.

West Ham linked with two new midfielders by ExWHUemployee

ExWHUemployee has given a list of centre-midfielders who West Ham United are interested in, while speaking on The West Ham Way Podcast 165.

What’s the story?

Two new names who featured in this list are Ronaldo Vieira and Nahitan Nandez, from Sampdoria and Cagliari respectively.

The other midfielders that he mentioned were Franck Kessie, Sander Berge, Steven Nzonzi and Joe Allen, with the majority of these seemingly being loan targets.

He reiterated within the podcast that this is the priority position for the Hammers. That is understandable, as Carlos Sanchez is currently the main backup option to Mark Noble and Declan Rice, despite having played just 113 minutes of Premier League football this campaign.

In desperate need

The Hammers are in dire need of a new midfielder, due to the aforementioned situation, so it is a positive sign that the net is being spread wide.

It was suggested that the interest in Nzonzi is “mild”, while Allen is also somebody who is low on the list of targets.

The direction seems to be that they are beginning to go for a younger player, with Vieira and Nandez 21 and 24 years old respectively.

However, it is not enough for the Hammers to simply be linked with these moves, it is integral that they actually go out and sign one of the targets if they are to get themselves in a safer position.

Call yourself a West Ham expert? How much did each of these January signings cost?

Vieira has shown that he can add defensive solidity, having averaged 1.5 tackles, 0.9 interceptions and 1.5 clearances per game this campaign.

Meanwhile, Nandez has one goal and three assists this term, while averaging 1.5 tackles, 0.7 clearances, 1 dribble and 1 key pass per match.

With just over a week left of the January transfer window, the Hammers will need to move quickly in order to wrap up whatever move they eventually commit to.

Meanwhile, one West Ham man has been slated by a pundit after his shenanigans against Everton.

Liverpool not interested in chance to re-sign Philippe Coutinho

Liverpool are not interested in the chance to sign Philippe Coutinho back from Barcelona, according to El Desmarque.

What’s the story?

Coutinho moved to the Camp Nou in January of 2018, but it has not gone too well for him in Spain. Although he did manage 21 goals and 11 assists in 76 appearances, it was not enough to keep him in the good books, as he was loaned out to Bayern Munich for the entirety of this current campaign.

The big fat Liverpool quiz of 2019 – how much do you remember about the last year at Anfield?

It seems that the Bundesliga champions are not interested in paying the €120m (£101.2m) fee to keep him permanently, however, and an Anfield return at the cost of €108m (£91.1m) won’t be happening either.

The report states Klopp either already has or would turn down the opportunity to bring Coutinho back to Merseyside, in part because he’s a bigger fan of Fabian Ruiz.

Moved on

There was a time when the Brazil international was a vital member of Jurgen Klopp’s side. In the first half of the 2017/18 campaign before he made the switch to La Liga, he scored seven goals and provided six assists in 14 Premier League matches, with him also having bagged 13 strikes the season before as well.

However, things have now changed at Anfield. Coutinho’s departure meant an increased role for Sadio Mane on the left wing, and the Senegal international is now one of the best players in the world – he finished in fourth place in the last Ballon d’Or rankings. Coutinho is far more of a creative winger than Mane – in those six months preceding his move he averaged 3.9 key passes per match, compared to the 1.8 the former Southampton man has amassed so far this campaign.

This current system that Klopp uses, which relies more on fast wingers, appears to be doing the trick – they lead the Premier League by a huge 16 points with a game in hand, and are still unbeaten in the top-flight this term, with Mane himself netting an impressive 15 times across all competitions.

Although Coutinho was undoubtedly a good player on Merseyside, Liverpool have now moved on and are doing better without him. It was even reported Klopp told the Brazilian that he would “have a statue” if he stayed at Anfield for a longer period. Now, though, it is far too late for that.

Journalist claims Olivier Giroud could move to Tottenham before transfer deadline

According to journalist Graeme Bailey, the agent of Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud is attempting to “engineer a move” to Tottenham Hotspur for his client.

Giroud had been widely expected to leave Stamford Bridge this month due to his lack of football in the first half of the 2019/20 campaign.

Indeed, the 33-year-old has only featured on five occasions in the Premier League this season and has made just seven appearances overall.

As it stands, though, the France international is still with Frank Lampard’s side.

Bailey has claimed that Giroud’s agent is attempting to take his client to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before the end of the month.

Spurs are light in the final third of the field having lost their talisman Harry Kane until at least April following hamstring surgery.

Money talks: How much did Levy pay for each of these Spurs stars?

And now the 6 foot 4 Giroud is being linked with a potential move to Jose Mourinho’s side.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are also believed to be in talks over a move for this striker before the end of the month.

Everton fans discuss Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard after latest performance

Many Everton fans on Twitter and the Grand Old Team forum have been discussing Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard following his latest goalscoring display for his club on Wednesday night.

The Frenchman netted twice – including a sublime free-kick – in the 4-0 win against Motherwell at Fir Park, making it four goals in his previous two Scottish Premiership outings and 19 in 22 in total in the league this term.

Despite only turning 22 years of age last month, the centre-forward is showing great promise up top for the Hoops, and has 56 goals in 118 games in all competitions for them during his career at Celtic Park.

Not only that, but he also has 28 assists to his name too to show that he can provide for his teammates too – something that can be important as a striker, especially if you are going through a dry spell.

As you can see below, there were those fans who simply praised the former Paris Saint-Germain youngster for his most recent performance.

One person on Twitter said they would “take him at Everton no problem”, but said that Celtic need to get him to stay for their potential 10th successive Scottish Premiership title run in 2020/21.

Other fans were responding to a Summer 2020 transfer window thread on the Grand Old Team forum, and suggested him as a potential signing.

Given Cenk Tosun is currently out on loan at Crystal Palace and Oumar Niasse was available for transfer in January, perhaps the Merseyside outfit will need some further striker competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and Moise Kean come the end of the season.

Edouard would certainly be a worthy candidate with one individual believing he would adapt to the English Premier League with no problems.

When you see how players like Virgil van Dijk have made the transition from Scotland, it would be hard to argue with that point given the striker’s record.

Finally, one supporter said that while they’d be interested in Edouard, they’d perhaps prefer Everton to take a look at Celtic centre-back Kristoffer Ajer – who can also play at right-back – instead.

Did he really play for us?! No Everton fan has managed to name all of these obscure Toffees players….

Given the Toffees’ lack of senior options at the heart of their defence with only Mason Holgate, Yerry Mina and Michael Keane, that could be a smart suggestion.

It doesn’t mean they should discount his French teammate though – double deal anyone?

Marcel Brands & Gretar Steinsson have made personal Jonjoe Kenny checks

According to The Liverpool Echo, Everton director of football Marcel Brands and head of recruitment Gretar Steinsson have both made personal checks this season on Jonjoe Kenny during his loan spell with Schalke.

What’s the word, then?

Well, the 22-year-old joined the Bundesliga outfit on a season-long loan deal last summer, and it is a temporary switch that has worked out pretty well to date.

Bundesliga.com did an article five weeks ago where the Englishman thanked Schalke manager David Wagner for helping him to be a success in Germany – the Liverpool-born full-back had started all of the Gelsenkirchen-based side’s opening 19 top-flight fixtures before missing the previous two through illness and then injury.

The Liverpool Echo says that Dutchman Brands watched the right-sided player in action earlier in the campaign, while Steinsson has also flown over to Europe to see him in action.

Does he have an Everton future?

It will certainly be interesting to see what happens this summer.

Indeed, this Liverpool Echo article has originated after German media outlet Der Westen reported earlier in the week that while Wagner would like to sign Kenny permanently, the club believe it is unlikely because of the other parties interested in the player.

There are some other factors to consider here, too.

Did he really play for us?! No Everton fan has managed to name all of these obscure Toffees players….

While the 22-year-old clearly has plenty of years ahead of him to make his mark at Goodison Park, it has to be remembered that Everton also have an option to sign Djibril Sidibe for £12.7m this summer when his loan spell from Monaco comes to an end, as per The Liverpool Echo.

The Frenchman, along with club captain Seamus Coleman, are both currently vying for the right-back spot under Carlo Ancelotti, and should they both be in the squad again next term, Kenny would surely face an uphill battle for regular minutes in the starting XI.

That said, The Liverpool Echo also quote what Brands said about Kenny at last month’s club AGM: “He was ready to play but we had Seamus Coleman playing regularly in that position.

Watch Everton Videos With StreamFootball.tv Below

“We needed to give Jonjoe, at this stage of his career, the opportunity to play regular football at a very good level. But we also needed two players in the right-back position.

“Schalke in Germany was a perfect loan move for Jonjoe and he is now playing every week.

“We are sure he will come back to compete in the first-team next season.”

Brands and Everton clearly like him then, but something has to give here.

Leeds man Barry Douglas teases Ruben Neves on Instagram

Wolverhampton Wanderers recorded an incredible victory in their Europa League clash on Thursday night as they totally dismantled a struggling Espanyol at home.

The Spaniards simply had no answer to the pulsating English outfit, who just kept on bombarding them throughout the clash.

It was Ruben Neves who grabbed the spotlight once again with his incredible strike to make it 2-0 early in the second half, and the player was quick to celebrate his achievement on

But even though it truly was a wonderful goal from the Wolves man, Leeds United’s Barry Douglas, who used to play alongside the Portuguese maestro at Molineux, couldn’t help but tease his friend and rival in the comment section.

He claimed the goal was nothing more than just a lucky shot from Neves and followed it up with a couple of emojis.

But still, it’s pretty safe to assume that this is just banter and nothing more than that.

Indeed, Neves can be more than proud of a strike that left many in awe on Thursday night.
