أفادت تقارير صحفية إسبانية، أن الدولي البرازيلي فيليب كوتينيو قد لا يظهر مجددًا في مباريات برشلونة حتى نهاية الموسم.

كوتينيو يغيب عن برشلونة بسبب الإصابة منذ نهاية ديسمبر الماضي، بعد الإصابة أمام  إيبارفي الجولة 16 من الدوري الإسباني.

اللاعب البرازيلي يخوض برنامجه التأهيلي الآن ومن المنتظر أن يعود إلى التدريبات الجماعية في مارس المقبل.

وحسب ما أفادت صحيفة “آس” الإسبانية، فإن برشلونة يرغب في تجنب مشاركة كوتينيو في الفترة المتقبية من الموسم، حتى لا يدفع 5 ملايين يورو لـ ليفربول.

وحسب ما أكد خافي ميجيل الصحفي الإسباني، أن كوتينيو على بعد 7 مباريات فقط، لتفعيل بند بقيمة 5 ملايين يورو، يدفعها برشلونة إلى ليفربول، حسب عدد مباريات اللاعب البرازيلي مع البلوجرانا.

برشلونة يعاني من ديون كبيرة، وتصل ديونه إلى 112 مليون جنيه إسترليني لـ 19 ناديًا مختلفًا، مقابل أقساط رسوم انتقال اللاعبين، وكذلك بنود في العقود.

Daniel Arzani has been taken out of Celtic’s Champions League squad for their tie with CFR Cluj in favour of Hatem Abd Elhamed, and it doesn’t look good for the young Australian.

The 20-year-old Manchester City loanee is facing yet another setback at Parkhead. The attacking midfielder has had a hard time since coming to Scotland, tearing his ACL on his debut just minutes after coming off the bench against Dundee.

The latest blow to his chances comes just as he’s returning to the first-team fold, which has to make you wonder if Neil Lennon sees any place for him whatsoever. Elhamed, an injury doubt for the game himself, has been given the chance in place of Arzani.

Just as the star looked like he was ready to earn another chance to carve out a career at the club, Lennon has brought him right back down to earth, revealing exactly where he sits in the pecking order.

Where does the news leave Arzani?

Being dropped from the squad shows how far down the pecking order the Australian is at Celtic Park.

For the wide-berths, he faces stiff competition from a plethora of talent. James Forrest has the right-hand side all but nailed down and youngster Mikey Johnston has started the season well, with the likes of Scott Sinclair, Marian Shved and Lewis Morgan waiting patiently in the wings. That’s a formidable list of players for Arzani to oust, and the prospects of getting in the side as a number ten aren’t much brighter.

Ryan Christie has established himself as the team’s first-choice creator already this season, with Tom Rogic still injured and Olivier Ntcham only just returning to prominence against Nomme Kalju.

Even the early-season change of formation to 3-5-2 would count against Arzani. The switch to a three at the back removes an attacking role to allow for more stability in the defence, which hardly suits the 20-year-old. He is not fitted to the two sitting roles in midfield, nor is he capable of doing the defensive duties of a wing-back.

The youngster will be hopeful of making an impact at Parkhead before his loan ends and he returns to Manchester City, but the competition in front of him and lack of an actual defined role are going to make life very difficult indeed.

According to The Scottish Daily Mail (August 8, page 84), Celtic rejected a late bid for Callum McGregor from former boss Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City as their window was drawing to a close on Thursday evening.

What’s the story?

Celtic booted out a late bid for McGregor as Rodgers looked to splash some of the incredible fee the Foxes received for Harry Maguire. It’s believed that Leicester were willing to spend £20m on the Celts’ midfield lynchpin, but the offer was rejected out of hand, per the report.

Major shareholder Dermot Desmond informed his former manager that McGregor was not for sale at any price as the club were preparing to lose another one of its stars to the Premier League, with Kieran Tierney joining Arsenal.

The report details the 26-year-old’s interest in speaking to his former manager but says he accepted the club’s decision to hang onto him during a period of change.

A smart decision from Desmond

With Tierney gone, the loss of McGregor would’ve been a disaster both on and off the pitch for the club.

There could well have been a massive backlash as the fans come to terms with losing two key players, especially two Scotland internationals. Tierney, a boyhood fan, was tough enough to lose on his own, but adding their dynamic midfield maestro to the exit list may have broke the camel’s back.

It becomes even more crucial that the club opted not to sell simply because it is Leicester. Rodgers tarnished his Celtic legacy by jumping ship to a mid-table Premier League side just as he was on the cusp of treble-treble glory at Parkhead, and it’s fair to predict a successful swoop for McGregor would have erased absolutely any goodwill the Northern Irishman still had in Glasgow.

Once again, it shows the club is in touch with the fans, knowing that entering into a deal with Rodgers would’ve been a public relations nightmare.

Most importantly, McGregor is such a pivotal part of the Celtic side on the pitch. The midfielder played more minutes than any other player in world football last season as his side won their third-consecutive treble with him at the heart of everything.

Keeping McGregor wouldn’t have been an easy decision with such a large offer on the table, but the Celtic board deserves massive credit for simply walking away.

وتحدث ألبا عن مباراة الغد في مؤتمره الصحفي منذ قليل، وقال: “مباراة صعبة، أحترم آراء الجميع حول من يمتلك الأفضلية (باريس سان جيرمان) لكن الملعب هو الفيصل، وبالطبع المنافس يمتلك لاعبين على أعلى مستوى وقام بالتعاقد مع صفقات مهمة في السنوات الأخيرة منذ آخر مواجهاتنا في عام 2017”.

وعن عودة بيكيه: “أحد أعمدة الفريق المهمة على مدار السنوات الأخيرة، يخلق حالة جيدة داخل غرفة اللاعبين، مشاركته غدًا في يد المدرب، لكن هناك بدلاء جيدين رغم قلة خبرتهم مقارنة بجيرارد”.

وعن ميسي وإمكانية الرحيل إلى باريس سان جيرمان: “ليو ملتزم بنسبة 100%، على الرغم من أنه لم يحسم موقفه بعد من البقاء أو الرحيل، لكنه تحدث عن الأمر من قبل ولديه نية في الاعتزال داخل برشلونة، نأمل ان نتمكن من الفوز بلقب وندعه يقرر في نهاية الموسم”.

وأضاف: “القرار النهائي يرجع إلى ميسي، أعتقد أنه سيكون مدروسًا جيدًا، لطالما قلت إنني أقدم أفضل ما لدي عندما يتواجد ليو في الملعب، لكن أيًا كان قراره علينا احترامه والأهم هو تركيزه مع برشلونة بالوقت الحالي”.

وبسؤاله عن غياب نيمار بسبب الإصابة: “لن أخدعك، من الأفضل ألا يلعب لاعبون مثل نيمار في الفريق المنافس، خسارة مهمة بالنسبة لهم مثل دي ماريا، لأنهم يساهمون بشكل جيد هجومًا ودفاعًا، لكن هناك بعض اللاعبين الآخرين الموجودين بالفريق والذين يمكنهم تعويضهما بنفس المستوى، ولا يجب أن ننسى غياب بعض اللاعبين المهمين لدينا في برشلونة”.

وعن كومان، قال: “جاء الكثير من المدربين في برشلونة، ولكن المهمة لم تكن سهلة أبدًا لصعوبة المنافسة في العديد من البطولات، إذا لم نكن في أفضل حالاتنا يمكن لأي فريق آخر أن يهزمنا، كل ما يجب علينا فعله هو التركيز ومحاولة الفوز”.

وعن لعب المباراة الأولى في كامب نو: “لم يعد الأمر يختلف كثيرًا مع غياب الجماهير، من المهم أن تلعب مباراة الإياب في ملعبك لكن الجوانب الآن متشابهة إلى حد كبير وسنرى من هو الأفضل”.

وكشف ألبا عن أهداف برشلونة التي يسعى لتحقيقها في الموسم الحالي، وقال: “ما زلنا ننافس على جميع البطولات حتى الآن، صحيح أن الفارق كبير في النقاط بالدوري الإسباني لكننا نقدم أداءً جيدًا في تلك البطولة منذ شهرين ونحاول أن نكون جاهزين لكل المباريات التي تنتظرنا ونصعب مهمة منافسينا خاصة رغم الخسارة الأخيرة في كأس ملك إسبانيا (أمام إشبيلية)”.

انتهت مباراة سموحة والمصري البورسعيدي، التي جمعت بينهما مساء اليوم الإثنين، ضمن منافسات الدوري المصري.

وتعادل سموحة مع المصري بهدف لكل فريق، في المباراة التي جمعت بينهما ضمن منافسات الجولة الرابعة عشر من مسابقة الدوري المصري، التي أقيمت على ستاد برج العرب.

وشهدت المباراة واقعة مثيرة من حكم المباراة أحمد العدوي في الدقيقة 97، بعدما كان أطلق صافرة النهاية ليحتسب ركلة جزاء لصالح النادي المصري، بعد لمس الكرة يد مدافع سموحة، إلا أن الحارس الهاني سليمان تصدى لها.

Leeds United returned to the top of the Championship table with a 1-0 win over Brentford at Elland Road on Wednesday night.

On-loan Arsenal attacker Eddie Nketiah came off the bench to score the winner for the Whites, who have now collected 10 points from their four league games this term.

It was a positive night for Marcelo Bielsa’s side considering two of their summer signings combined to match-winning effect, a moment that apparently sent Victor Orta into delirium according to Yorkshire Evening Post’s chief football writer, Graham Smyth.

The Leeds fans were obviously delighted with the final result, but it would be fair to say that a number were disappointed with what they saw from Ezgjan Alioski.

A bit of a reshuffle due to injuries saw Alioski come into the team on the left.

However, according to WhoScored, the 27-year-old only made one challenge and did not complete a single dribble as he struggled going forward.

It’s no secret that Southampton have had many a good player cherry picked from their squad over the years.

The Saints have lost the likes of Dejan Lovren, Nathaniel Clyne, Luke Shaw, Calum Chambers, Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Morgan Schneiderlin, Victor Wanyama, Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane to top six sides in recent years, but there was one man who never managed to get his big move away despite numerous links – Ryan Bertrand.

The left-back, now 30, was arguably amongst the best Premier League players in his position a few seasons ago and was consequently linked with headline transfers to clubs such as Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United.

For whatever reason, the England international never got his big move away from the South Coast and he could now face the ultimate price – falling into obscurity away from the Saints first-team.

Recently, Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl dropped the former Chelsea man for 20-year-old centre-back Kevin Danso for the trip to Brighton. Bertrand had a knock, but the Austrian said that he would’ve made the decision to drop his previous No.1 left-back anyway.

Quite why the former RB Leipzig had this decision in mind remains to be seen, but it could be argued that something isn’t right with Bertrand.

The 30-year-old held the captain’s armband at St Mary’s under Mark Hughes and also in the early days of Hasenhuttl’s reign, but that duty has since been handed to Pierre-Emile Højbjerg – the Dane was captain in Bertrand’s last league appearance, a 2-1 loss to Liverpool.

There have been signs of an attitude problem with Bertrand in the past in terms of complacency and entitlement.

Having been left out of the England squad for the 2018 World Cup, the former Aston Villa defender agreed to an interview in which he makes a big point of telling Gareth Southgate that he was wrong not to select him, saying that it was “perhaps an oversight in the manager’s analysis and I find that hard to take.”

Another glimpse of Bertrand potentially being quite arrogant and cocky can be seen in the clip below, where he purposefully messes up a throw-in by launching the ball further down the touchline, before glancing down to the camera, smiling, winking and tapping his wrist to indicate him pointing to a watch – weirdly, the score at the time was 1-1 in a derby game against Bournemouth.

For one reason or another, Hasenhuttl has seen fit to drop a man who was once the leader of this Southampton side, and at 30 years of age now, it seems like Bertrand faces an uphill battle to ever hit the heights of being linked to the best sides in the country again. He wasn’t even mentioned as a potential candidate for the most recent England squad either – his last Three Lions outing being being nearly two years ago.

Bertrand may have looked at the likes of Shaw, Lallana, Mane and Chambers and expected a similar move away for himself to follow, but he has been left behind by a glittering Southampton alumni. Now not even a guaranteed starter under Hasenhuttl, the ultimate price for that could well be fading into the background at a club that finished 16th in the Premier League last season.

وواصل: “صنعنا فرصة واحدة أو اثنتين بأنفسنا لكن أكبرها جاءت في الثواني الأخيرة ولم نستغلها، لقد فعلنا ذلك كثيرًا هذا الموسم، وحققنا الانتصارات ونحصل على شيء ما، كنا غير محظوظين حقًا لعدم القيام بذلك اليوم”.

وتابع: “لأكون صادقًا، شعرت بخيبة أمل من كلا الهدفين اللذين استقبلناهما، لكنني كنت سعيدًا بالطريقة التي أعدنا بها أنفسنا إلى المباراة”.

واختتم: “التسجيل ضد مانشستر سيتي ليس بالأمر السهل، كما ترون من خلال سجلهم، أعتقد أنهم تلقوا ستة أهداف فقط على أرضهم في الدوري الإنجليزي طوال الموسم، أنا فخور بأداء فريقي اليوم”.

Southampton travel the short distance to Brighton on Saturday to take on Graham Potter’s men at the Amex Stadium, where Ralph Hasenhuttl will be hoping to see his side record their first result of the season having lost their first two games.

The Saints have only scored once in those two games, and even that was courtesy of Liverpool keeper Adrian kicking the ball at Danny Ings – the backline has also conceded five times, so there is cause for concern all over the pitch.

Brighton, on the other hand, have already picked up four points with an impressive win over Watford and a 1-1 draw against West Ham last time out.

Let’s take a look at how Hasenhuttl should set his side up for the South Coast derby…

We recently detailed why Jannik Vestergaard is too much of a liability, and how the Dane should be dropped as a result of his performances as well as to move away from the 3-5-2 system.

With that in mind, we think the 6 foot 5 centre-back should definitely be dropped, with Maya Yoshida and Jan Bednarek retaining their places in the team – Yan Valery and Ryan Bertrand should also be moved back into a four-man defence.

In attack, Che Adams and Nathan Redmond have struggled to get involved recently, outlined by the fact that the Saints haven’t scored a goal yet of their own making – we think that they should keep their place despite that, but £15m summer signing Moussa Djenepo should also be handed a first start to help them out up top.

A midfield trio of James Ward-Prowse, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Oriol Romeu provides a nice blend of craft and defensive solidity, which would help keep the side balanced overall in comparison to the disjointed 3-5-2 which was torn apart by Burnley – it is this trio that the former RB Leipzig boss should opt for against Brighton.

It would be a huge shift of impetus from Hasenhuttl, but we think he should certainly take on this approach for a game he should see as a winnable one against the Seagulls.
