Richard Walsh22-Sep-2002Somerset chief executive Peter Anderson has written to all 7000 of the club’s members `to apologise for the poor display by our players this season.’In the letter that dropped onto every members doorstep over the weekend the Somerset boss says that despite the C and G Final appearance at Lord’s `too many of our performances seemed to lack enthusiasm, urgency, and the requisite application expected of professional players.’Mr Anderson refers to the meeting that Cricket Chairman Vic Marks is going to have with the coaches and senior staff to `assess what went wrong and what is needed to rectify the situation’ and goes onto say that the club are making financial provision to sign three new players including an additional overseas player.The Somerset chief promises ` each and every coach and player will be interviewed and left in no uncertain terms what is expected of them in 2003. For most of them the message is quite simpleyou got us down, you get us up.’However Mr Anderson reassures the supporters when he says `The ground, facilties, youth development, training and finacial structure are the envy of many’ and concludes by saying `What has happened has depressed us all but it is not the end of the world; nor is it the end of Somerset County Cricket Club.Certainly if the players can carry on with the kind of spirit and application that they demonstrated in the last NUL game against Durham Dynamos they will be a force to be reckoned with in 2003 and will be promotion contenders in division two.

وواصل: “طلبنا مرة واحدة تأجيل مباراة لمدة 24 ساعة وانقلبت الدنيا علينا، هناك أشياء كثيرة جدًا تحدث ضد الزمالك، نُعاني من العناد ضدنا”.

وأردف: “في أوروبا شاهدنا محمد النني ومحمد صلاح مع زوجاتهما في الملعب، كنا نريد أن نفعل ذلك وحصلنا على إيقاف لمدة 8 أشهر”.

واستكمل: “وارد أن يطلب الزمالك حكامًا أجانب بعد ما حدث، خط يتحول إلى أعوج لكي يحتسب الهدف!، الزمالك مظلوم تحكيميًا”.

واستطرد: “الحكام المصريين تحت ضغط قوي جدًا، ومن الوارد أن يتأثروا بالضغط الواقع عليهم، نريد منهم أن ينفذوا القانون في كل المباريات”. وتابع: “موسيماني مدرب جيد، وأحمد سيد زيزو ليس له منافس حاليًا في الكرة المصرية، وأتمنى حصد الأهلي لبطولة دوري أبطال إفريقيا لأنه يشارك باسم مصر”. واختتم: “أنا ضد عودة كهربا إلى الزمالك حال رحيله عن الأهلي”.

In a fixture where the Hammers ran out comfortable winners, Moyes would’ve undoubtedly been pleased to see Michael Antonio, Jarrod Bowen, Armstrong Oko-Flex, Said Benrahma and Mark Noble get on the scoresheet [Daily Mail].

Speaking to the Irons official media channel, the Scot shared his delight at his sides’ performance, stating:

“You never know what the results mean in pre-season, but all I do know is we’re getting better and I want a new West Ham who play and win, try to do the right things and I thought today, we did a lot of the right things.”

Of course, Moyes will be desperate for his side to carry this free-flowing momentum into their first Premier League trip of the campaign away to Newcastle United on the 15th August [Newcastle United FC Official].

Despite this, many West Ham United diehards took to Twitter to scold the lack of action surrounding incomings at the London Stadium this summer.

Pelo Corinthians, Léo conquistou a Copa São Paulo de Juniores em 2012 e foi promovido ao elenco principal em 2013. Contudo, com a concorrência de diversos nomes de peso, ele não teve espaço com o técnico Tite, tendo disputado apenas oito partidas. Ele não fez nenhum gol como profissional do clube.

Nos últimos três anos, o atleta passou por Guarani, Penapolense, Paysandu, Mogi Mirim, Oeste e Audax. No último clube ele teve bom desempenho, atuando mais recuado, na armação. O jogador fez três gols, um deles por cobertura sobre o Palmeiras, no Allianz Parque, e recebeu elogios do técnico Fernando Diniz.

Léo não disputará a fase final do Campeonato Paulista e só poderá ser inscrito na Copa Sul-Americana caso o Corinthians passe pela Universidad de Chile.

Speaking to FootballFanCast, Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge has now shared what he knows on Gareth Bale when asked if Tottenham Hotspur could pursue another loan deal this summer.

The Lowdown: Spurs linked with Bale re-signing…

Spurs have been linked to possibly re-signing the Welshman again in recent months, coming nearly a year after he completed a sensational temporary return to Spurs in one of the headline transfers of 2020.

The move turned out to be a slightly mixed homecoming overall with Bale going on to start just 10 Premier League games.

In that time, however, he did finish the season as Tottenham’s third-most prolific player in terms of goals and assists combined (G11, A2) – as well as being called ‘world class’ by pundits (Jermaine Jenas, Match of the Day via Wales Online).

Now, Sky reporter Bridge has shared what he knows on Bale and if Spurs could try to sign him again on loan.

“One thing I have heard is that Ancelotti wants to keep him, so I don’t know whether has changed there,” he explained.

Bale also earns a staggering €692,600-per-week (£591, 501-per-week) salary at Real Madrid, and even if managing director Fabio Paratici somehow negotiated that Spurs pay half again, it could be too big of a financial drain in an already difficult climate.

Antigua-based billionaire Allen Stanford, who recently confirmed a US$100 million investment in five Twenty20 matches between West Indies and England, believes the shorter format, and not Test cricket, will help popularise and increase revenues for the game.Stanford said Twenty20’s short duration will interest youngsters. “I don’t think Test cricket is going to draw them to the game in the droves that Twenty20 will. Twenty20 is a game that equates to soccer, it equates to basketball,” Stanford told the in an interview in London last week.”It is a three-hour game and it is something that even the kids that may be marginally interested in cricket now, can say, ‘well that’s like soccer, that’s like basketball, I want to get interested in that game and make as much money as a professional athlete playing cricket again. “Stanford, who is already bankrolling the Stanford 20/20 in West Indies, felt only Twenty20 could bring in revenues that will help cricketers earn as much as their counterparts in other sports. “Test cricket is not going to be the revenue generator that Twenty20 can be. Twenty20 can generate revenue through television,” Stanford said. “Test cricket is not going to generate revenue through television and that is what is going to allow you to pay your athletes these salaries that have to be commensurate based on their skill level with other sports and that is just the business side of it.”Stanford hoped his investment will help revive interest for the game in the West Indies. “We have two problems in the West Indies right now. Our cricket is down at the bottom and the reason it is down at the bottom, is that we have the best athletes in the world but they are going elsewhere.”He said the increased money to be earned will prompt youngsters to choose cricket over other sports in the Caribbean. “They are not interested in playing cricket. We have to have something to get them interested in playing cricket,” Stanford said. “Cricket by now has to be paid like soccer, and basketball. All the American sports and international sports, are paying these huge amounts of money.”We are not doing that in the Caribbean right now with our cricket. Our cricket in the Caribbean is back stuck in the 50s and 60s as an amateur-professional sport and it has got to be a professional business.”It can’t be an amateur professional sport. By taking the sport to another level, by bringing in money, the excitement, enthusiasm that only Twenty20 cricket brings and the way we do it in the Caribbean, [different from anywhere else in the world], we are hopeful to get these kids now going elsewhere back into the game of cricket and let us be world beaters again. So that’s the reason [Stanford] Twenty20 for 20 [million dollars] is to benefit cricket in the West Indies if nothing else can.”
