Léo esteve nesta quinta-feira no CT Joaquim Grava.

ECB Media Release09-Aug-2002England’s women’s U-21 cricket team are celebrating in Dublin tonight havingwon the inaugural U-21 European Cup by comprehensively beating the hoststoday. Today they dismissed Ireland for 89, and reached the target in 25 overs. Tottenham learn price for Damsgaard

An update has emerged on Tottenham target Mikkel Damsgaard, regarding how much Sampdoria are demanding for his signature…

What’s the talk?

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Sampdoria are demanding £25.7m (€30m) for Tottenham transfer target Mikkel Damsgaard this summer. The report claims that Milan have been in contact with the Serie A club over a potential deal and have been told that they will need to part ways with £25.7m to land him.

Spurs chief Fabio Paratici has reportedly identified the Danish international as a target ahead of next season following his strong performances in the European Championships for his country.

Fans would love it

Paratici must ensure that he can get a deal over the line for Damsgaard as the fans would love to see him in North London next season. The former Juventus man now knows exactly how much it will take to prise the midfielder away from Italy and now he needs to act on the club’s interest and offer what Sampdoria want for him.

In an ideal world, Paratici would have time to negotiate with Sampdoria and potentially lower the price to secure a bargain for Damsgaard. However, they might not have that chance as interest appears to be mounting for his services. Along with Milan, Barcelona, West Ham and Liverpool are also reportedly eyeing up the young talent.

Therefore, Spurs must strike quickly to secure a deal for him before the other clubs are able to make their moves, which is why they should be looking to go straight in with a £25.7m offer. He could be a quality addition to Nuno Santo’s squad.

TV2’s football expert Martin Mikkelsen lavished praise on the “dynamic” attacker and highlighted the maturity in his games despite only turning 21 earlier this week, saying: “He’s magical – what speed!

“He is dynamic and can go both ways. He is creative but also so mature in his decisions.”

Damsgaard could be able to come in and make an instant impact at Tottenham. He has three goals and three assists in his last five games for Denmark, including a goal and an assist at the European Championships this summer, suggesting that he could be a decent option for Santo to call upon in the Premier League next season.

However, it could be in the long-term where Spurs benefit from spending £25.7m on Damsgaard. He is only 21 and has plenty of room left for development, which means that he could improve over the course of several seasons and grow into being an influential player.

The supporters could love watching the flying winger make progress in a Spurs shirt, potentially working his way from being a squad option to being one of the first names on the teammates, with the form he is showing at his current age suggesting that he could have a bright future.

Everton interested in signing Kurt Zouma

Everton have considered numerous options in the transfer window to date but they are still yet to conclude a single deal.

The players have returned for pre-season but you sense it won’t be long before they’re joined by new faces at Finch Farm.

What’s the word?

One area that Rafa Benitez has been targeting improvement is in defence.

The Toffees have been linked with moves for Merih Demiral and Ben White but talks have gone rather flat in the last week.

Instead, it now looks as though Everton are turning their attention to Chelsea centre-back Kurt Zouma.

The Frenchman spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Goodison Park under Marco Silva and could now make a stellar return.

That’s according to Julien Maynard, a reporter in France. He took to Twitter on Friday afternoon to say: “Kurt Zouma is expected to leave Chelsea this summer. In England, Wolverhampton positioned themselves but the player declined.

“Everton and Tottenham are interested, as are Roma. José Mourinho would like to get the loan (with OA) from the defender.”

Big upgrade

Silva spoke highly of Zouma during his initial spell at Everton, hailing the defender for being different to a number of options already at their disposal.

[snack-amp-story url= “https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/check-out-the-latest-everton-news-benitez-kamara-romero-dumfries” title= “Read the latest Everton transfer news!”]

“I am pleased because he is helping our team, he fits well in our squad,” the ex-Toffees boss began.

“He is a little bit different in terms of profile to our other central defenders — he is a little bit faster when we lose the ball — he is different to Jags, Mina and Michael [Keane].”

With that in mind, he’d be a terrific addition to the centre of Everton’s defence.

Benitez does possess Ben Godfrey now, perhaps the quickest of their centre-halves, but just imagine him alongside Zouma next season.

The pace and athleticism would be a joy to watch when you consider some of the mishaps in their backline last term.

Described as a “top-level” performer by Thomas Tuchel, Zouma has gone from strength to strength after recovering from a nasty knee injury a number of years ago.

The £46k-per-week earner is graceful in possession of the ball, completing 90.9% of his passes in the Premier League last season. That’s a higher number than every player in the Everton squad, including the ball-playing Yerry Mina.

Furthermore, Zouma is a colossus in the air. The France international won a mighty 3.6 aerial battles in 2020/21 which was more than any other defender at Goodison.

In fact, Dominic Calvert-Lewin was the only player who won more duels in this regard, which goes to show just how much of an upgrade he’d be.

At the age of just 26, you sense as though the Chelsea centre-back’s best years are still ahead of him.

Crystal Palace linked to Aaron Ramsey

Crystal Palace have been linked with a move for Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey after his rather underwhelming stint in Serie A.

What’s the story?

The Wales international is currently lining up for his national side at the European Championships, but a summer switch could be on the cards after the tournament’s conclusion.

According to Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Football Talk), Ramsey wants to leave Juve over the coming months to make a return to the Premier League, with Arsenal and West Ham United set to rival Palace for his signature.

Parish must swoop

After making just 24 Serie A starts in a two-year stint with the Turin giants, Ramsey is reportedly ready to return to English football.

The 30-year-old has enjoyed a stellar career in terms of winning trophies at Arsenal and then Juventus, winning three FA Cups, a Scudetto and an Italian Cup.

When at the peak of his powers, Ramsey can be a top-class operator and he was once described as an “outstanding technician” by former Gunners defender Martin Keown.

However, after finding game time hard to come by in recent years, the experienced maestro could be ready to move to a side where he’d be guaranteed a place in the starting XI.

Palace are in desperate need of new recruits ahead of the upcoming transfer window. Roy Hodgson’s departure has left the south London outfit in a precarious position.

The former England boss may have brought stability to Selhurst Park during his four-year stint at the helm, but he’s left the playing squad in a far from healthy state.

Experienced duo James McCarthy and James McArthur are set to become free agents at the end of the month, leaving a sizeable gap in the capital club’s engine room.

Therefore, chairman Steve Parish must swoop for Ramsey as he plots a mass overhaul of the first-team squad.

Whether the Welshman would be prepared to join Palace and battle against relegation is up for debate, but an opportunity to bring in someone of his stature and quality is something the club’s hierarchy cannot afford to turn down.

And, in other news…Get it done: Parish must sanction CPFC swoop for 19 y/o prodigy, fans will be buzzing

Christie can be Saints’ next Armstrong

Southampton have been linked with a move for Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie recently, and his potential signing could be a repeat of the deal which saw Stuart Armstrong join the Saints in 2018.

According to The Scottish Sun, Southampton are targeting the attacking midfielder ahead of the summer transfer window as they look to add a goalscoring midfielder to their ranks next season. The report from Alan Nixon suggests that Christie’s contract with Celtic is set to expire at the end of 2021, so they are keen to cash in on him this summer instead of potentially losing him for nothing.

Norwich and Burnley are also said to be interested in the 26-year-old, but a move to Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side may appeal to the Scotland international as he could link up with his former clubmate and current international colleague Armstrong.

Since joining the Saints three years ago, the 29-year-old has gone on to make 104 appearances for the south coast club, contributing 14 goals and 11 assists.

The Scottish midfielder was one of the standout performers for Southampton in 2020/21, with Saints legend Terry Paine full of praise for his campaign in the recent end of the season awards, saying: “I’ve been highly impressed with him, in terms of his effort and output, and the fact that he has played in multiple positions. He’s shown that bit of spark, and he’s got that burst of pace that can make a real difference.”

Given that Southampton signed him from Celtic, where he predominantly featured as an attacking midfielder, there are many similarities between Armstrong and Christie.

[snack-amp-story url=”https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-southampton-transfer-rumours-and-news” title=”Read the latest Southampton transfer rumours and news!”]

The 26-year-old Scotland international has contributed an impressive 40 goals and 41 assists in 142 appearances for the Hoops, which included four goals and eight assists in the Premiership last season as he averaged a superb 7.33 rating from WhoScored for his performances.

Celtic legend Chris Sutton was full of praise for the midfielder after his goals helped Scotland qualify for Euro 2020, saying: “You have to admire his attitude as well as his versatility, to be able to play so many positions at such a high level…he gives it absolutely everything. We all know he can produce moments of magic, but he combines it with a ferocious work rate. Christie is a manager’s dream.”

Therefore, it certainly seems as if Christie could be a superb addition to Hasenhuttl’s squad, and if he can have the same impact that Armstrong has made during his time on the south coast, then signing him could be another masterstroke by Southampton CEO Martin Semmens if the Saints pull it off.

Celtic: Reporter shares Postecolgou’s Hoops response

Ange Postecolgou has been asked if he’s been offered the chance to become Celtic’s new manager by reporter Dan Orlowitz.

The Lowdown: A busy few days…

Celtic’s search for a new permanent boss has taken plenty of twists and turns in recent months, however, the last few days have been manic.

The Hoops were thought to be closing in on Eddie Howe, only to see a deal dramatically collapse on Friday afternoon due to budget, backroom staff and personal issues.

Hours on from the development, Celtic were thought to be in advanced talks with Postecolgou, who took charge of Japanese side Yokohama F. Marinos on Sunday.

The Latest: Postecolgou’s response

Postecolgou guided Yokohama F. Marinos to a 2-1 win over Shimizu S-Pulse to take the club 15 points behind leaders Kawasaki.

As to be expected, he was asked about a potential move to Scotland after the game. This is what Orlowitz posted on Sunday morning, admitting the 55-year-old refused to comment on a move to Parkhead and insisted he was focused on his role with Yokohama F. Marinos.

“BREAKING: In response to my questions, Ange Postecolgou won’t comment on whether or not he’s been offered Celtic job, says he’s focused on his current job at Marinos.”

The Verdict: Not a surprise…

It’s not a shock to see Postecolgou batting off any questions regarding Celtic without a real answer.

It seems as if he may well be the man in the Celtic Park hot seat next season, though, and a deal for the Australian could prove to be a huge gamble by the Hoops board.

Fergal Harkin, who looks set to become the club’s new director of football, maybe the driving force behind a move for Postecolgou. Yokohama are part of the City Football Group, so Harkin, Manchester City’s football partneerships manager, likely knows him very well.

Considering Howe appeared to be Celtic’s main target for a number of weeks, a move for Postecolgou has appeared to gather pace quickly, but after the Howe disaster, the new candidate keeping his cards close to his chest is a good thing.

The Hoops have reportedly been tracking Postecolgou for months, so it seems as if they know just what they’ll be getting, however, it’s obvious he was never the club’s first choice, so it’ll be interesting to see how he may fare in Scotland.
