تحدث لوكاس سبتمبر مدير الإعلام بالاتحاد الإفريقي لكرة القدم، عن ملعب نهائي دوري أبطال إفريقيا، مشيرًا إلى أن الاتحاد المصري لم يقدم رغبة جدية لاستضافة الكونفدرالية.

وقال لوكاس في تصريحات تلفزيونية عبر فضائية “أون تايم سبورتس”: “ليس هناك في اللائحة ما يمنع من دولة معينة استضافة النهائي أكثر من مرة”.

وتابع: “وليس هناك في اللائحة ما يدفعنا لفتح باب الترشح لاستضافة نهائي دوري الأبطال بعد انسحاب بعض الملفات، والاتحاد المصري لم يُقدم رغبة جدية لاستضافة نهائي كأس الكونفدرالية”.

هل الأندية من حقها مخاطبة كاف مباشرة أم لابد أن يكون عن طريق الاتحاد؟: “فقط اتحادات كرة القدم هي التي تُخاطب كاف وليس مسموح للأندية طلب استضافة مباراة من الاتحاد الإفريقي مباشرة”.

هل لابد أن يوافق الاتحاد الإفريقي على لجوء الأهلي للمحكمة الرياضية؟: “لا أستطيع التحدث عن التكهنات أو التوقعات، هذا ليس ضمن تخصصاتي، وفي كرة القدم الجميع يعرف اللوائح ومن حقه يعبر عن رأيه”.

Many Everton fans have been left to fume as an image emerged of what looks like their new training top.

As shared by Toffee TV on their Twitter page, the Goodison Park faithful’s new top does not boast the traditional Royal Blue as the dominant colour, with it only being seen on the sleeves and around the neckline.

Instead, the dominant colour is almost greyish, and did not appeal to several Merseyside club supporters.

The Toffees have already begun their pre-season under new manager Rafa Benitez, but will likely not have England stars Jordan Pickford and Dominic Calvert-Lewin arriving to join up with the squad at Finch Farm until much later, given that The Three Lions have a Euro 2020 semi-final against Denmark at Wembley Stadium to look forward to.

Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa could strike fear into the rest of the Premier League by signing Spain star Adama Traore this summer.

What’s the story?

Reports in recent days have suggested that the Whites are interested in signing the Wolves winger, with claims back in December revealing that Bielsa’s side were keen on luring him to Elland Road.

If the Yorkshire club can pull off a deal for the Spanish flier, then it could well help form a terrifying duo alongside Raphinha.

Dubbed a “machine” and someone who “scares defenders” by former Leeds man Rio Ferdinand, the £100k-a-week earning Traore has got the kind of game-changing pace and ability that could help form a terrifying duo with Raphinha at Elland Road.

Bielsa himself has previously admitted to how tough a player Traore is to mark, saying: “It’s better to follow the man than leave him to a team-mate. I believe, fundamentally, Traore likes to play out wide on the wings. If he dominates the ball on his side he’s difficult to start, so whoever’s marking him will need some support.”

Averaging an impressive 4.1 dribbles per game – the highest in the entire Premier League last season – and being fouled 2.3 times per match – the third-most in the division – Traore is as direct as they come, and never seems to stop wanting to take the full-back on.

Having someone like the Spaniard on the opposite flank to Raphinha would give Leeds a second exciting option for them to turn to and try and change a game.

If teams even think of trying to double up on Raphinha, then the Whites can simply switch the play to Traore and let him wreak havoc. Managers would have a real hard time coming up with a game-plan that would see them deal that kind of twin threat.

It’s exactly why a move for Traore this summer would be an exciting one for Leeds.

وتابع: “الطريقة التي يلعب بها، فهو يسحب المدافعين من مراكزهم مما يمنح زملاءه فرصة لتسجيل الأهداف”.

وأضاف: “يجذب المدافعين إليه، هذه صفة لا يستطيع كل اللاعبين القيام بها، المدافعون يكرهون أيضا اللعب ضده”.

وواصل تصريحاته: “لماذا يغير ليفربول في لاعبيه بالتشكيل الأساسي؟!، طالما يحققون الفوز، هذه هي طريقتهم التي تجعلهم يفوزون بكل المباريات تقريبا”.

Chelsea and Scotland star Billy Gilmour is the sort of midfielder that would keep things ticking over at Southampton, says former player Carlton Palmer.

Gilmour could be available for loan this summer, with The Athletic recently reporting that newly-promoted Norwich City are looking to bring him in but are likely to face Premier League competition.

The 20-year-old stole the show when Scotland took on England at Euro 2020, winning Star of the Match in the 0-0 draw, before missing his country’s final game against Croatia after testing positive for Covid-19.

Asked if Gilmour, who completed the most passes for Scotland in that fixture versus England (via WhoScored), could be perfect for a team like Southampton, Palmer told FFC:

“For sure, for sure. I mean, the one thing you have to do in the Premier League, you have to be able to retain the football. It’s not like the Championship. You can’t get possession and give the ball away because against the better sides, you won’t get the ball back and they’ll do damage to you.

“So if you can get somebody who can keep the ball moving, keep it ticking over, keep possession, be progressive, then obviously it fits.”

As he showed with his display at Wembley, Gilmour is capable of doing just that. Southampton were also in the top eight last season for average possession so, all in all, the Scottish youngster looks like a good fit for the south coast club.

Michael Ball believes Everton may pursue a deal to sign Chris Smalling from Roma this summer.

Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that the Toffees are interested in signing the English centre-back this summer.

Roma have just appointed Jose Mourinho as their new manager and the report claims that he is looking for a different profile of defender.

Smalling first moved to the Italian club on loan in 2019/20 but the deal was made permanent the season following and he has made a total of 58 appearances in Rome.

A former England international with 31 caps, the 31-year-old spent a decade at Manchester United, making 323 appearances at Old Trafford.

And Ball believes that a deal to sign Smalling could be a realistic one for the Toffees this summer, with his experience likely to add plenty to the club’s backline.

Speaking exclusively to Football FanCast, he said: “Chris Smalling, experience is probably what Everton need. Experience at centre-half, we’ve got so many, Godfrey’s doing really well, he had a fantastic season, he’s just lacking experience, you’ve got Yerry Mina who consistently can’t get a run of games, he keeps catching niggles here and there. It’s never been a settled back two or three.

“Chris Smalling will be fit week in and week out and that experience could help the likes of Godfrey, improve his development, and also settle the likes of Michael Keane or Mina alongside him, with his experience.

“It’s a possible one, I can see Everton probably going for it, it’s a player Everton were probably interested in a couple of years ago so it’s more realistic, I can see it happening.”

Smalling is valued at £10.8m by Transfermarkt and has a contract until 2023.

In an exclusive interview with Football FanCast, former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Carlton Palmer has criticised Dejphon Chansiri for his decision not to hire a director of football.

The Sheffield Wednesday owner recently reiterated to the fan engagement panel that he has no intention of appointing a director of football, adamant that the manager should have the final say on recruitment.

With the managerial merry-go-round that has taken place at Hillsborough this season, though, some may wonder if there is any point in giving a manager total control over transfers when he could be shown the door the next month.

On the topic, Palmer told FFC:

“He keeps reiterating he doesn’t want to get a director of football. He’s put a shedload of money in the football club and he’s on the brink of being relegated to League One when he should have been in the Premier League. And he’s saying he doesn’t want a director of football at the football club? That says it all.

“As far as I’m concerned, whoever is advising him… I’m not knocking the chairman. I get grief for not supporting the chairman and whatever, but I’m just a realist and call it as it is.

“He has put a lot of money into the football club, that there can be no arguments about. But he’s been badly advised, hence why Sheffield Wednesday are in the position they’re in this season.”

As things stand, Wednesday are set to lose a whole host of players this summer due to expiring contracts.

It means a large rebuilding job may need to be carried out at Hillsborough before the start of next season, so perhaps the arrival of a director of football would be useful.
