Thornton takes career-best 7 for 39 for Australia A after late call-up

He was ‘speechless’ after bowling his side to victory against NZ A and claiming the best-ever List A figures for Australia A just two days after being called up

Henry Thornton has capped a whirlwind 48 hours by claiming a career-best 7 for 39 on debut for Australia A in a thumping victory over New Zealand A in Brisbane just two days after an unexpected call-up into the squad.Thornton claimed the first seven wickets of New Zealand A’s chase as they were bowled out for just 135 inside 32 overs, falling well short of Australia A’s 243 that had been underpinned by a stunning 70 off 59 balls from Ben McDermott. The 26-year-old was a long way down the list of Australia A fast-bowling candidates when the initial squad was selected having played just 16 List A games for Victoria and South Australia. But an unprecedented spate of injuries across the Australia ODI squad and Australia A squads meant Thornton was flown to Brisbane on Monday, just hours after he got the call from the selectors, ahead of Wednesday’s second unofficial ODI as Liam Hatcher’s replacement after he was ruled out with foot soreness. Ben Dwarshuis, Wes Agar and Mark Steketee had already been ruled out from the initial squad.Thornton took full advantage ripping through New Zealand A, just as he did for Adelaide Strikers in the BBL last year when he took an extraordinary 5 for 3. He was left in shock after his performance having produced the best List A figures for Australia A in front of his dad, who had flown up for the day to watch.”I’m kind of speechless at the moment,” Thornton said. “It was pretty cool. My dad was up here in the crowd and he was going absolutely ballistic.”He said you might not get many chances to play for Australia A again so I’d better come up and watch. He was going absolutely nuts.”New Zealand A were cruising at 0 for 46 in the seventh over when Thornton was introduced and he took three wickets in the over. Tim Seifert drilled a catch to cover to start the rot. Thornton then nipped one back through Dean Foxcroft’s gate before claiming Tom Bruce first ball with another that decked back and caught the inside edge through to keeper Josh Philippe.Thornton didn’t even know he was on a hat-trick next over when he delivered a bouncer but New Zealand A’s run-rate completely stalled. Opener Nick Kelly, who had blazed 30 off his first 20 balls scored just 14 from his next 35 before slicing Thornton to backward point. Two overs later he was on a hat-trick again as the visitors slumped to 6 for 74. Thornton bowled out his 10 overs straight, including a maiden, claiming his seventh wicket for the innings in the 24th over. New Zealand A’s tail folded with Matthew Kuhnemann and Ashton Turner picking up the last three between them.”It’s pretty crazy,” Thornton said. “I thought if we bowled enough balls in the right area, there’d be enough there. I just tried to hit the top of the stumps and got pretty lucky to be honest. They’re pretty good players. I was just honestly stoked to get the call-up for the last two games up here. And it’s been a great couple of days with the boys.”If you look at the guys in the room. It’s a pretty special team and for me to just be involved and a part of it … I said this when I was playing BBL and took that 5 for 3, two years ago I was just running around playing grade cricket. So any game that I get to play is an absolute bonus. And it’s a privilege to play with the guys in this room.”Thornton was one of only four players in the Australia A XI who haven’t played international cricket. McDermott provided some international standard ball striking on his way to a blistering 70 earlier in the day. He thumped four fours and six sixes in his 59-ball stay. He was savage on anything back of a length, clubbing all of his sixes over deep midwicket and wide long-on, including one onto the roof of the Stuart Law stand and several out of the ground before he miscued one of Foxcroft.Australia A crumbled from 1 for 119 after 19 overs to be all out for 243 in the 45th. William O’Rourke pegged it back for the visitors after the rough start claiming 4 for 29. Matt Renshaw contributed 43 and Josh Philippe 35. Matt Short, Ollie Davies and Gurinder Sandhu were the only other Australia A batters to reach double figures. But after losing the two four-day matches, Australia A claimed the 50-over series 2-0 ahead of the final game on Friday.

The dream XI FSG could build at Liverpool: £150m star signs & no Trent

Last summer, Jurgen Klopp left us.

In his place, Arne Slot. Feyenoord had enjoyed back-to-back trophy-winning campaigns with the shrewd tactician at their helm, winning the Dutch Eredivisie before claiming the KVNB Cup, which is the equivalent of the FA Cup.

Klopp’s decision to step down from his job as Liverpool manager after nearly nine years was a tough pill to swallow. Merseyside went into a state of mourning (or a state of jubilation, if you approach it from a Blue perspective).

Mostly everyone expected Liverpool’s empire to collapse, but they have prospered under a new wing, storming through the 2024/25 Premier League season to establish a 12-point lead at the top.

It couldn’t have gone any better on the league front, but FSG know thunder rumbles in the background, with a spate of problems lining up to disrupt Slot’s project come summer.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot

Problems need solutions, and Liverpool are rather good at finding them in places others can’t. Some superstars may leave this summer, but fresh faces will join the Reds cause.

Let’s reserve judgement until next season’s well underway. How many times have FSG pulled it off in recent windows?

1 GK – Alisson Becker

Alisson

It feels like the spot between the sticks shouldn’t be contentious. But oh how it is.

Alisson Becker is a phenomenon, lauded as “the best goalkeeper in the world” by Slot, but Liverpool have signed Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia for £29m. He’s replacing the outgoing Caoimhin Kelleher, and he wants top spot.

Two high-level keepers. Just how FSG like it. There could be worse problems to deal with. And in fairness, there are at that.

2 RB – Jeremie Frimpong

Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong.

We’re going to say it. Sorry, but it’s growing increasingly probable that Trent Alexander-Arnold is going to sign for Real Madrid when his contract expires at the end of the season. Liverpool have Conor Bradley, but they’ll need more depth and Jeremie Frimpong might just be the man for the job.

Recent reports suggest Liverpool are getting ready to make their proposal for the Bayer Leverkusen invincible, who has a €40m (£34m) release clause.

Transfer Focus

Mega money deals, controversial moves and big-name flops. This is the home of transfer news and opinion across Football FanCast.

Devastating in attack – The United Stand’s Beth Tucker has dubbed him a “monster in the final third” – and one of the fastest defenders in the business, he’d be perfect for Slot’s fluent and slick system.

3 CB – Ibrahima Konate

Ibrahima Konate warming up for Liverpool

Ah, sweet uncertainty.

It’s actually no laughing matter. Real Madrid, bane of Liverpool’s life, reportedly want Ibrahima Konate, and he’s out of a deal in just over one year.

The hulking centre-half has been immense this season, maybe as good as his counterpart beside him. Several months ago, Fabrizio Romano confirmed talks have been long underway and a positive outcome is expected for the Anfield side. So we shall cling to that hope for dear life.

4 CB – Virgil van Dijk

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk

More uncertainty.

Virgil van Dijk, Liverpool’s supreme defender and matchless leader, is also nearing the end of the line. However, he wants to stay; Slot wants him to stay; the fans want him to stay; the squad want him to stay.

Surely we will all be granted our wish. Van Dijk might be approaching his mid-thirties but he’s been extraordinary this season, and the ramifications of losing him would be keenly felt indeed.

5 LB – Milos Kerkez

Milos Kerkez for Bournemouth

This is big. Andy Robertson has been a stalwart for Liverpool, but he’s flagging at 31, ran into the dirt across so many tireless years. Milos Kerkez is the perfect replacement.

The i Paper have confirmed Liverpool have made contact and are honing in on the 21-year-old, who is available for around £40m and has been described as “a revelation at Bournemouth” by Sky Sports’ Jamie Carragher.

6 DM – Ryan Gravenberch

Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch

Ryan Gravenberch isn’t going anywhere. However, there’s no doubt he’s been overused this season and is currently beset by fatigue after playing so many minutes.

Liverpool would do well to sign another midfielder this summer, but it would take some player to dislodge the Dutchman from his starting berth.

7 CM – Alexis Mac Allister

Last year, Argentina international Alexis Mac Allister admitted he would love to play in Spain one day, for Real Madrid or Barcelona.

Just hold your horses, ay Mac. Liverpool hit the jackpot when bringing Brighton’s rising talent to Anfield for just £35m in 2023. He steered the club toward resurgence last year and has been a quiet leader and influence in the centre this season, as Slot’s side head toward the Premier League title.

8 AM – Dominik Szoboszlai

Dominik Szoboszlai celebrates for Liverpool

Dominik Szobozlai: Liverpool’s veritable life-blood.

The Hungarian has really come into his own over these past few months, with a gas tank to marvel at and an all-encompassing game that compelled Jurgen Klopp to pay £60m for his services back in 2023.

He’s not going anywhere.

9 RW – Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah warming up for Liverpool

Whether Mohamed Salah stays or goes depends on the push-and-pull at the negotiating table. At £350k per week, he’s the highest earner in Liverpool’s history.

Richard Hughes certainly has his work cut out, but we reckon the sporting director will placate the masses by engineering an extension.

10 LW – Cody Gakpo

Cody Gakpo celebrates for Liverpool

Luis Diaz is about to enter the penultimate year of his contract and is among the players Liverpool may cash in on this summer, but Cody Gakpo’s going nowhere.

The Netherlands forward sits second in Liverpool’s scoring charts with 16 goals, without question Slot’s standout forward with Salah notwithstanding.

Essex bowlers confirm big victory over Somerset

Simon Harmer claims eight for the match as Sam Cook and Jamie Porter add impact

Sam Cook, Simon Harmer and Jamie Porter confirmed Essex’s 196-run victory over Somerset – their first LV=Insurance County Championship win at the Cloud County Ground, Chelmsford for 11 months.Fast bowler Cook grabbed two in two with the new ball before Simon Harmer took two more wickets to claim match figures of 8 for 178 and Porter rounded off the tail.Somerset had batted stoically in the hope of batting out 151 overs, or reach 466 to win, but they were eventually bowled out for 269 with two sessions to spare.Essex only won two Championship matches at home last season, have gone unbeaten at Chelmsford between September 2018 and September 2022.The day’s play was preceded by a minute’s silence for the victims of the Nottingham attacks, while players from both teams and the umpires wore black armbands and the flags were at half-mast. The two students who died had links to Essex and Somerset cricket. Barnaby Webber, 19, played for Bishops Hull Cricket Club in Taunton. Grace O’Malley Kumar, 19, played and captained Essex Women from Under-11 to Under-15.Somerset had shown great fight and grit on the third evening to give themselves of saving a draw, having been bowled out for 167 with a first-innings lead of 295. But Tom Kohler-Cadmore’s dismissal to the final ball of the day swung things strongly in Essex’s favour.Tom Abell and James Rew did bat out the first 137 balls of the morning, putting on 56 with great skill. The second new ball was coming though and that would prove damaging for the visitors.Sam Cook needed just two deliveries to extract a thin edge behind to see off Abell for 83 before a wobble-seamed delivery nipped off the seam and into Kasey Aldridge’s off stump next ball.Craig Overton navigated a hat-trick ball that teased the outside edge but Rew soon fell to Harmer – who had shared the fresh nut. Left-handed Rew drove at the off-spinner with the edge brilliantly taken at first slip by a fully stretched Alastair Cook.Matt Critchley took an equally great catch at leg slip when Craig Overton turned Harmer around the corner.Essex’s second victory of the campaign was confirmed with Matt Henry tickling behind and Josh Davey was sensationally caught behind by Will Buttleman, both off Porter.Essex take 22 points, to Somerset’s two, to keep their nose in the Championship race.

Chris Woakes, Mark Wood, Moeen Ali return for must-win Headingley Test

England have made three changes for Thursday’s third Ashes Test at Headingley, with Chris Woakes, Mark Wood, and Moeen Ali returning to the starting XI in place of James Anderson, Josh Tongue and the injured Ollie Pope. The XI was confirmed shortly before England’s captain Ben Stokes addressed the media at Headingley, where his team must win to begin to claw back their 2-0 deficit after defeats at Edgbaston and Lord’s.Of the three changes, Anderson’s was the most anticipated. He has so far claimed three wickets at 75.33 in an off-colour start to his tenth Ashes campaign, and after declaring the Edgbaston pitch to be “kryptonite”, England’s short-ball approach at Lord’s also went away from his preferred swing-bowling methods. He makes way for Woakes, who has not played a home Test since September 2021, but whose record of 94 wickets at 22.63 in England makes him the obvious like-for-like replacement. In the absence of Pope – whose dislocated right shoulder has ruled him out of the summer – Woakes’ prowess with the bat (he averages 35.25 at home, with one hundred and five fifties) is a bonus after England fielded an unusually lengthy tail at Lord’s.Related

“We’re obviously devastated for Popey,” Stokes said. “He’s been a huge part of what we’ve managed to achieve over the last 18 months and obviously, being vice captain, it’s a real shame not only for us, but also for him in such a big series.”Moeen’s return provides more ballast in the lower-middle order, and is further reason why England have opted not to replace Pope with an additional batter, with Essex’s Dan Lawrence the one spare option in their squad. Harry Brook has been handed Pope’s role at No.3, in a show of faith in spite of his quiet series to date, but Stokes admitted that his own workload as an allrounder – after a gruelling 12-over spell in the second innings at Lord’s – had been a key reason for packing the side with extra bowling options.”Obviously Dan was in the squad as the next batter in, but there were a few more things to consider,” Stokes said. “I’m not gonna lie, last week took it out of me a little bit, so a big part of it was what would be the best team if I wasn’t to bowl a ball in this game, in the worst case scenario? That doesn’t mean I’m not going to bowl, but that was a huge part of the thinking about the team that we picked.”Brook has so far made 132 runs at 33 in four innings of the series, but attracted criticism for a soft dismissal at Lord’s after reaching his half-century. Stokes, however, said that his promotion to 3 – and Bairstow’s to No.5, the position he filled in his remarkable run of form in 2022 – had been “pretty simple” decisions.”Last summer, Brookie was in the squad and was the next player in, and when you’ve got a player like Brookie, from one to six, he would have come in in any position,” Stokes said. “We feel that Brookie is a type of player who will just take the responsibility and just crack on with it.”We obviously want to keep Joe [Root] at four because he’s a remarkable player, and Jonny moving up to five was just to get him into the game earlier. The things he did last summer from the No.5 position are quite hard to look past.”ESPNcricinfo Ltd

Moeen missed the Lord’s Test after sustaining a cut to the knuckle of his spinning finger, but he has been deemed fit to resume his comeback to the format. His appearance in the first Test at Edgbaston was his first since retiring at the end of the India series in 2021, and he resumes needing two more wickets to reach 200 in Tests.Wood’s extra pace offers England a genuine point of difference after being noticeably out-matched on the speed gun in the first two Tests. After missing the Lord’s Test to ensure his readiness for action, he returns for his first Test since the tour of Pakistan in December, and his first competitive outing in all cricket since his fiery displays for Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL in April. He steps in for Josh Tongue, who produced a spirited display in his first taste of Ashes cricket at Lord’s, where he finished with five wickets in the match, including Steve Smith and David Warner in both innings.Stokes, however, was adamant that Wood’s inclusion ahead of Anderson did not spell the end of the road for England’s greatest fast bowler, a point that he had made to the whole bowling group before the start of the series.”We were very open and honest, and clear with each other before the series started, that it’s going to be very tough ask to ask all the bowlers to play every game this summer,” Stokes said. “It’s a good chance for Jimmy to have a rest up and then get ready to charge in from the Jimmy Anderson End at Old Trafford next week. But it’s great to have Woody fit. He’s firing and really ready to go this week, and we’re looking forward to seeing him get going.”England: 1 Zak Crawley, 2 Ben Duckett, 3 Harry Brook, 4 Joe Root, 5 Jonny Bairstow (wk), 6 Ben Stokes (capt), 7 Moeen Ali, 8 Chris Woakes, 9 Ollie Robinson, 10 Stuart Broad, 11 Mark Wood

PCB insists Jay Shah took 'unilateral' decision on ACC calendar

Says Asian Cricket Council board needs to ratify all decisions

The impasse between BCCI and PCB is set to deepen further with the Pakistan board issuing a second public statement in as many days, insisting Indian board secretary Jay Shah “unilaterally” announced the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) calendar of events for 2023 and 2024 without informing the PCB.On Friday morning, the ACC had put out a media release rejecting PCB chairman Najam Sethi’s claim on Thursday that Shah, who is also the ACC president, had announced the ACC calendar for the next two years without keeping the PCB in the loop.By evening the PCB put out its own statement, via a Twitter post, stating the ACC Board, of which it was a part, needed to ratify the decisions taken by the Development and Marketing committees.

On Thursday, Shah in his capacity as ACC president announced details of all ACC competitions over the next two years. “Presenting the @ACCMedia1 pathway structure & cricket calendars for 2023 & 2024!” he tweeted. “This signals our unparalleled efforts & passion to take this game to new heights. With cricketers across countries gearing up for spectacular performances, it promises to be a good time for cricket.”Sethi quote-tweeted Shah later on Thursday, with some sarcasm: “Thank you Jay Shah for unilaterally presenting ACC structure & calendars 2023-24 especially relating to Asia Cup 2023 for which Pakistan is the event host. While you are at it, you might as well present structure & calendar of our PSL 2023! A swift response will be appreciated.”

A day later, the ACC put out a statement saying the PCB had been informed about these details via email on December 22, 2022, but no response had been received.”It has come to our knowledge that PCB Chairman Mr. Najam Sethi has made a comment on the ACC President unilaterally taking the decision on finalising the calendar and announcing the same,” the ACC statement said. “The ACC wants to clarify that it has followed established due process. The calendar was approved by its Development Committee and Finance & Marketing Committee in a meeting held on December 13th, 2022.”The calendar was then communicated to all the participating members individually, including Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), via an email dated December 22nd, 2022. While responses were received from certain Member Boards, no comments or suggested modifications were received from PCB. In view of the above, Mr. Sethi’s comments on a social media platform are baseless and are vehemently denied by the ACC.”The ACC’s Development Committee and Finance & Marketing Committee – the bodies that approved the ACC pathway structure and calendar – do not contain any representation from Pakistan. And the day the mail was sent to the PCB – December 22 – was a day of considerable tumult in Pakistan cricket: Sethi replaced Ramiz Raja as head of the board that very day.’They could’ve made one call to us’ – SethiSpeaking to , Sethi insisted the PCB had not received that communication, or that he had not been made aware of it. “I am not angry, I am confused,” he said. “They could’ve made one call to us, consulted with us. Doing these things unilaterally is not good when there is a council for it. As far as I am aware they didn’t consult anybody. Does this mean when I become president next, I will also make these decisions from my home?”Sethi revealed in fact that the PCB’s CEO (although that position does not exist in the current administration) Faisal Hasnain had reached out to the BCCI several times to set up a meeting but had received no response. He also made a plea for politics to be kept out of cricket ties between the two countries.Related

Pakistan could pull out of Asia Cup if tournament is moved out

Shah statement could 'impact Pakistan's visit to India' for World Cup

India won't travel to Pakistan for 2023 Asia Cup

Tensions had been simmering between the two boards during Ramiz’s tenure as PCB chairman and specifically over the venue of the 2023 Asia Cup, which is scheduled for September. Pakistan are the slated hosts of the event but that was thrown into uncertainty when Shah, soon after a BCCI meeting last October which he presided over, said the 2023 Asia Cup would move to a neutral venue because India could not travel to Pakistan. Since then, there has been no clarity over where the Asia Cup would be played this year.”On one hand you say you want Pakistan to come to India for the World Cup but also say we don’t want to play in Pakistan for the Asia Cup. When the Champions Trophy happens in Pakistan (in February 2025) will they not play that as well? We should keep politics away from this. BCCI is an independent board. Our board is not even independent, we are a government institution, so we have to get advice from them all the time.”We will of course say this tournament should be in Pakistan. All countries have come to Pakistan. There are no issues now. There are no security issues now. [As for neutral venue] we will cross that bridge when we come to it. We will consult the government. This is merely the latest example of the deterioration of ties between the two boards, as a result of poor political ties between the two countries. India and Pakistan have not played each other in a bilateral series since 2012-13, when Pakistan toured India for a limited-overs series. Their encounters have been limited to ICC and ACC events, and while the India men’s team have not played any match in Pakistan since 2008, Pakistan last travelled to India for the 2016 T20 World Cup.

Luuk de Jong salary: How much does PSV star earn per week and annually in Eredivisie?

Everything you need to know about Luuk de Jong's salary details playing for PSV

Dutch striker Luuk de Jong enjoyed a stellar first spell at PSV, playing five seasons with the club between 2014 and 2019, before moving to Sevilla in Spain.

Although his goal-scoring numbers declined, De Jong played a key role in Sevilla's Europa League triumph, proving instrumental during the campaign.

He was later loaned to Barcelona, where, despite a slow start he became a cult hero. De Jong delivered crucial, clutch goals for the Catalan side during a difficult transitional period marked by Lionel Messi's departure and the club’s participation in the Europa League.

After his loan spell ended, De Jong returned to PSV, where he has since regained his scoring form and remains a constant threat in attack.

His current contract with PSV runs until June 2025, with renewal talks currently underway, though no agreement has been finalized yet.

Under his present deal, De Jong earns a substantial salary, ranking among the top earners in the squad.

So, exactly how much does he earn?

Was Bumrah rushed back from injury into the India squad ahead of T20 World Cup?

“We tried to hurry up Jasprit Bumrah, and see what has happened,” chief selector Chetan Sharma said

Shashank Kishore31-Oct-2022Did India try to rush Jasprit Bumrah back from injury during their build-up to the T20 World Cup?Chief selector Chetan Sharma seemed to suggest so at a virtual press conference on Monday to announce four squads across two tours – New Zealand and Bangladesh – in November-December 2022.Related

Not surprisingly, Bumrah missed the cut for those matches as he continues to recover from the back injury that forced his absence from the ongoing T20 World Cup in Australia.”I always say that we have to manage players,” Sharma said. “And when we do that, the media sometimes writes about why some players are not playing, different players are playing, different captains are coming.”The selection committee has to deal with workload management which we follow very closely. Now, we tried to hurry up Jasprit Bumrah, we tried to get him with the World Cup coming. And see what has happened? We are without Jasprit Bumrah in the World Cup.”Bumrah was first diagnosed with a stress reaction in his back in August and was ruled out of India’s Asia Cup campaign later that month. However, in September, Bumrah was declared fit and was picked in India’s T20 World Cup squad. The same squad also featured in India’s build-up to the tournament with home games against Australia and South Africa. Bumrah featured in two of the three T20s against Australia, but was pulled out on the eve of the South Africa series, India’s last before the World Cup, after he complained of back pain.Since then, Bumrah has been undergoing a rigorous rehab programme at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. Even as he exuded hope of Bumrah being available soon, Sharma was non-committal about timelines.India play six white-ball games in New Zealand before flying to Bangladesh in early December for three ODIs and two Tests. They then host New Zealand and Sri Lanka for a white-ball tour to kick off the 50-over World Cup year, before finishing their World Test Championship assignment with the Border-Gavaskar series at home against Australia (four Tests).”The NCA team and the medical team are looking after him very well. And he will definitely be part and parcel of the team very soon, in the sense definitely against Australia (series in 2023). But for Bangladesh we are a little cautious with Jasprit Bumrah as opposed to like we tried to bring him back early (post the Asia Cup). So we don’t want to do that this time.”That is why I always request the media that when we rest a player there is a reason behind that. No selector fancies that we keep changing the team or the captains – it is only that there is so much cricket, and there is so much workload management to look after that we have to keep looking after the player’s body. End of the day they are humans. He will be back soon. The NCA team is working on him properly and I hope he will return soon to play for India.”

The women’s T20 cricket competition will feature in the Commonwealth Games 2026 to be held in Australia. It was among the 20 sports included in the next iteration to be played in Victoria, ICC said in a release. It follows the success of women’s cricket, which made its debut in the Birmingham edition earlier this year.”We are delighted to know that women’s cricket will be part of the Commonwealth Games in Victoria,” Wasim Khan, ICC General Manager – Cricket, said. “It will be another significant landmark for the sport after its huge success in recent years, including Birmingham. The continued growth and upward trajectory of both the women’s game and T20 cricket fits perfectly with our long-term ambitions that include being part of the Olympic Games.”Women’s cricket has witnessed a sharp upward curve with rising standards and a rapidly increasing fan base. The sight of 86,174 fans in Melbourne for the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 still lives strong in our memories and so we just can’t wait for another opportunity to showcase the women’s game, this time in Victoria in 2026.”Hosts Australia are the defending champions having won the gold medal thanks to their nine-run win over India at Edgbaston in August. New Zealand finished with bronze medal, having defeated England in the deciding contest. The Commonwealth Games in 2026 will run from March 17 to 29 in four regional hubs of Ballarat, Bendigo, Geelong and Gippsland. The 2022 edition was the first time that women’s cricket as well as the T20 format got featured in the Commonwealth Games, following men’s 50-over cricket in the tournament in Kuala Lumpur.
