Não me rendo, não me entreguei.

Cabe a mim continuar tentando. O jogador perdeu a confiança.

Aston Villa join race for "fantastic" 17 y/o gem in potential January swoop

Since the arrival of Unai Emery, Aston Villa have been closer than ever before to returning to the great heights they once found themselves at. The Midlands club are back in Europe, having qualified for the Europa Conference League, and have enjoyed a fine start to the Premier League season, in which they sit as high as fifth – just two points adrift of the top four.

Emery won't want to just ensure that the current Villa side are competing among English football's elite, however. Instead, the former Sevilla boss and the rest of those at Villa Park will want to create a permanent seat for the club at the Premier League's top table. Helping to ensure that rise to the top could be one particular January target, too.

Aston Villa transfer news

The Villans enjoyed another successful transfer window during the summer, as they proved their new-found attraction by welcoming Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby, who has hit the ground running in the Midlands. Meanwhile, they also brought in the likes of Nicolo Zaniolo and Clement Lenglet in what have proved to be excellent coups so far. Now the focus turns to the January transfer window, though, where Emery is reportedly looking to sign a future star.

According to TeamTalk, Aston Villa are interested in Sam Curtis, who has already made over 50 senior appearances for St Patrick's Athletic, despite being just 17-years-old. The right-back has reportedly attracted the interest of several Premier League clubs, with Tottenham Hotspur, both Manchester clubs, Newcastle United and Everton all eyeing moves, as well as Championship sides Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Hull City.

So, it's fair to say that the race to secure the Irishman's signature is a busy one, giving Villa plenty to think about when the winter window swings open. If they can beat their Premier League rivals to Curtis' signature, it would be some coup.

Aston Villa interested in "fantastic" Curtis

Given the fact that Curtis is already making his mark on first-team football in the League of Ireland Premier Division, where he helped St Patrick's Athletic to a third place finish, the interest in the right-back comes as little surprise. What will impress Villa the most too, is the fact that the teenager has already made two appearances in Europe, having played twice in Europa Conference League qualifying.

Curtis has already earned plenty of deserved praise throughout what is still a young career, including from St Patrick's Athletic manager Jon Daly, who told the Irish Independent:

“We’ve been delighted with him getting called up to the U-21s as well, it’s a fantastic achievement for someone so young. He’s fantastic and a great talent. He has an aggression in his game that you don’t really see in younger players. Quality-wise, he's been very good. He’s still learning the game and we’re hoping he keeps improving. He’s done well and he’s made that spot at right wing-back his own. We’ve been more than happy with him.

“He’s 17-years-old and could probably play 90 minutes every day. He’s fit and he’s available for selection which is a positive after international duty. I’d imagine there have been enquiries already. He’s just got to keep focused on playing his football for us. The most important thing for people his age is to play first-team football at a good level and play against men. It’s massive for him that he’s in the first team environment on a daily basis."

Everton news: Dyche and 777 may land big favour that saves them £2.9m

Everton boss Sean Dyche and potential new owners 777 Partners could be about to get some much needed relief on the Toffees' wage bill, according to a fresh report.

Everton updates: 777 Partners, Branthwaite & Garner latest

Toffees chairman Bill Kenwright has shared a positive update on his health in recent days following communication from Everton that the 78-year-old has returned home from hospital after having a cancerous tumour removed from his liver. Cited via BBC Sport, one club spokesperson said: "He has returned home to continue his recovery, which is expected to be lengthy but complete."

In conversation with the Price of Football podcast meanwhile, football finance expert Kieran Maguire has indicated that there is a lot of 'red flags' within 777 Partners' proposed Everton takeover, as he stated: "The work of some other Everton fans who have looked into the background of 777, there are lots of red flags."

In-form Everton central defender Jarrad Branthwaite has been in action for England's Under-21 side during the international break and featured in the young Three Lions' 9-1 obliteration of Serbia at the City Ground in midweek alongside James Garner. The duo are now scheduled to take part in Lee Carsley's side's upcoming tussle against Ukraine on Monday 16th October at 5.30 pm in UEFA Euro qualifying.

Everton face a powderkeg clash at Anfield against Liverpool on October 21st in the Premier League once they return from the international break. and Dyche's men will be desperate to build on their 3-0 triumph against Bournemouth at Goodison Park last weekend to move further away from the relegation zone.

Everton transfer update – Andre Gomes

According to an Everton transfer update from Calciomercato, Toffees outcast Andre Gomes is being lined up as a potential replacement for Paul Pogba at Juventus after the France international tested positive for a banned substance and now could be set for a ban of up to four years from football.

Gomes, whose £112k-a-week contract is set to expire next June, has been identified as a financially feasible option for the Italian giants to help fill the void that Pogba could leave, though much will depend on whether Everton are okay with losing the Portuguese midfielder's services six months early.

If they did agree to a deal with Juventus in the New Year, Everton could actually save around £2.9 million on Gomes' salary, as they wouldn't have to pay the remaining 26 weeks on his contract from January to June.

In light of potential new ownership at Goodison Park, shifting Gomes, who has netted two goals and seven assists in 100 appearances for Everton but not played a single minute this season and is clearly not in Dyche's plans, may be a cost-effective solution for all parties involved (Gomes statistics – Transfermarkt).

Manchester United: Red Devils keen to sign £25k-p/w Serie A "legend"

Manchester United have set their sights on signing another new forward alongside Brighton and Hove Albion's Evan Ferguson, as a reliable journalist dropped an update on the club's transfer plans this week .

What's the latest transfer news at Man United?

Over the summer, Erik ten Hag was busy in the market, bringing in seven fresh faces in the form of Mason Mount, Andre Onana, Rasmus Hojlund, Jonny Evans and Altay Bayindir all on a permanent basis, whilst securing loan moves for Sofyan Amrabat and Sergio Reguilon.

There were also plenty of outgoings, with the hierarchy sanctioning the sales of some big names like Fred, Dean Henderson, Eric Bailly and Anthony Elanga, though having this space in the squad means that the boss has room to bolster his ranks further in January.

One of the players that he could turn his attention to is Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who has caught the eye for Rudi Garcia’s side since joining last summer from Dinamo Batumi, where he’s so far made a total of 45 appearances to date.

The Premier League giants were credited with an interest in the left-winger during the previous transfer window, alongside Manchester City and Newcastle United, and despite a deal failing to come to fruition, the 22-year-old could be on his way to Old Trafford in 2024.

Are Man United signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia?

According to The Daily Mail's Mike Keegan during a live Q&A, Man United could look at Kvaratskhelia as a possible attacking reinforcement alongside Ferguson – who the board are also keeping close tabs on – despite Ten Hag's options currently being more limited out on the right wing. He said:

"He plays on the other side but it wouldn’t surprise me if Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was in the Premier League next season. I know he’s had admirers here, including United, but I can’t imagine he would come cheap and a switch during the season may be unlikely. As for January, a loan move may be the answer to get them through until the end of the campaign."

Napoli forwardKhvicha Kvaratskhelia.

How many goals has Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored?

Since putting pen to paper at Napoli, Kvaratskhelia has posted an impressive 32 contributions (18 assists and 14 goals) in 45 appearances, form which has seen him dubbed a “legend” by football talent scout Jacek Kulig, so should he put pen to paper at Man United in the new year, it would be a huge coup.

The Georgia international, who pockets just £25k-per-week, is also currently averaging 9.47 shot-creating actions per league game which is more than any of his fellow teammates, via FBRef, highlighting the constant threat he poses to an opposition's defence when it comes to the action in the final third.

Sponsored by Nike, the both-footed Serie A winner has also received plenty of individual recognition over the course of his career, receiving his country's Footballer of the Year award on four occasions whilst being named the Champions League’s Best Young Player in 2023, so he would be able to pass his winning mentality onto the current squad who are already in M16.

Celtic: Rodgers has signed a "different class" young talent at Parkhead

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is getting used to life back in Glasgow and one of his new summer signings in particular is being tipped as a real star in the making.

What's the latest news involving Celtic?

The Hoops have gained an early advantage over city rivals Rangers after they defeated Michael Beale's men 1-0 at Ibrox thanks to a goal from Kyogo Furuhashi to move four points clear of their adversaries in a controversial affair last Sunday.

Sitting top of the Scottish Premiership with Motherwell level on ten points, Celtic boss Rodgers, on a personal note, now has a record of 11 wins, two draws and one loss against Rangers across his two spells at Parkhead, averaging out at around 2.50 points per game, something which he has only bettered in his managerial career against Aberdeen, as per Transfermarkt.

Several Celtic players have now jetted off for international duty with their respective nations – new signing Yang Hyun-jun has made his international debut for South Korea against Wales in a 0-0 draw at the Cardiff City Stadium, earning plaudits from manager Jurgen Klinsmann for his performance, as per The Glasgow Times.

The former Tottenham Hotspur icon gave the 21-year-old some glowing praise in his post-match press conference, stating: "Yang has been playing well for Celtic and he came on here and was good too. I think it will be very important to see how much he grows and develops both at club and at country level."

Japanese midfielder Reo Hatate could provide a timely boost by the time Celtic take to the field to face Dundee at Parkhead on Saturday September 16th after Rodgers confirmed in late August that the midfielder would return to training during the break.

What has Frank McAvennie said about Gustaf Lagerbielke?

Speaking in an interview with Football Insider, former Celtic striker McAvennie has revealed that he was impressed with the performances of Gustaf Lagerbielke alongside Republic of Ireland international Liam Scales in particular during the Hoops' 1-0 victory over Rangers last weekend.

The 63-year-old told the outlet: "The two of them went for the same ball a couple of times. In the second half I thought both of them were different class, not just Scales and they will take so much out of that game. It shows the players that have just come in what it is like to go and win at your biggest rival."

How good is Lagerbielke?

Lagerbielke was brought in from Allsvenskan side Elfsborg for around £3 million in mid-August and has settled in well at Celtic despite a shaky start in his opening appearance for the Hoops in a 1-0 Viaplay Cup defeat to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park, as per BBC Sport.

Since then, he has gone on to record two consecutive clean sheets in his last two outings, earning an average match rating of 7.6/10 against St Johnstone and 7.2/10 away to Rangers, according to Sofascore.

Celtic boss Rodgers spoke highly of Lagerbielke following his official announcement at Parkhead, stating to Celtic TV via BBC Sport: "He is an exciting, talented young player who has great attributes and someone who I think is ready for the challenges that Celtic will bring."

Now on international duty with his native Sweden, the 23-year-old will be hoping to kick on from a strong start to his career at Celtic to challenge for domestic honours and also make an impact in the Champions League.

Man United considering move to sign "top-drawer" free agent

Manchester United are now considering a shock move for Dutch winger Anwar El Ghazi, amid growing uncertainty over the future of a first-team player…

Is Jadon Sancho leaving Man United?

Jadon Sancho's Man United career could be over, with The Daily Star reporting his relationship with Erik ten Hag has broken down completely, after the winger recently took to social media to deny the claims he has a poor attitude on the training ground.

The duo are struggling to settle their differences, despite engaging in recent talks over the Englishman's future at Old Trafford, as there is a lack of trust in the fractured relationship, meaning he is now expected to be one of the players sold in January.

Sancho is expected to secure a loan deal elsewhere in the winter market, with a view to making a permanent exit next summer, bringing to an end what has been a disastrous spell since arriving from Borussia Dortmund for a fee of £75m in 2021.

In the same article, it is detailed that Antony is currently absent, due to allegations of domestic abuse, meaning United are a little short on options in wide areas, and there has now been an indication they could make a move for a former Premier League winger.

According to a report from The Daily Mail, Man United are now considering a shock move for El Ghazi, amid the uncertainty over Sancho and Antony, and the ex-Aston Villa man would be available on a free transfer, having recently left PSV Eindhoven.

The 28-year-old left the Dutch side by mutual consent last week, potentially paving the way for a move to Old Trafford, however, the Red Devils are not the only club in the race for his signature, with offers from Saudi Arabia also believed to be on the table.

With Antony set to be absent for the foreseeable future, and Sancho's future in major doubt, after a loan move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq fell through last week, the former PSV Eindhoven man could be a viable option for Ten Hag's side.

However, since then, Red Devils reporter Laurie Whitwell has said:

"MUFC not interested in Anwar El Ghazi, after proposal by agents. Right-wing options affected by Antony’s withdrawal + Sancho’s situation, but Pellistri was kept with a view to featuring, plus Garnacho could play there. Fernandes/Mount too, if necessary."

How good is Anwar El Ghazi?

Although it is a little surprising Man United are being linked with a player who PSV were happy to get rid of recently, there are some indications the Dutchman could be a good signing, particularly considering he has experience in the Premier League.

During his spell with Aston Villa, the Netherlands international scored a very impressive ten goals in 28 games in the 2020-21 season, and he was hailed by journalist Ashley Preece before he departed the West Midlands club:

"Capable of a worldie & brilliant at high-pressure penalties! For a little over £8million, El Ghazi has been a top-drawer value-for-money signing."

Even last season, El Ghazi managed to put in some solid displays for PSV, scoring eight goals in 23 Eredivisie games, indicating that he could be a decent enough short-term option for Man United.

It will be very difficult to find a suitable replacement for Sancho outside the transfer window, but it is important Ten Hag brings in a younger option in January, as he is sparse on options in wide areas, making this one to watch.

Joseph, Paul fire Guyana to eight-wicket win

Pacers Keon Joseph and Keemo Paul took a combined 16 wickets in the match as Guyana secured an eight-wicket victory over Barbados at home.Paul took his second first-class five-wicket haul, while Joseph took three wickets as Barbados posted 294 after electing to bat. They then returned to take four wickets each in Barbados’ second innings before half-centuries from Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Leon Johnson helped them run down a 178-run target with eight wickets to spare.Having lost the toss, Guyana won the early exchanges, with Joseph snaring three wickets in a new-ball burst that reduced Barbados to 32 for 3. A 78-run fourth-wicket stand between Kevin Stoute followed, which ended with a run out of Moseley. Stoute fell for 47 to left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie as Barbados lost half their side for 123. Then came the substantial partnership of the match, between Kenroy Williams (68) and Justin Greaves, who top-scored with 72. The duo’s sixth-wicket stand of 121 hauled Barbados close to the 250 mark before Paul wiped out the lower order as Barbados lost five wickets for 50 runs to be bowled out for 294.Tagenarine (52) and Chandrapaul Hemraj (79) kickstarted Guyana’s replay with half-centuries and a 115-run first-wicket partnership. Barbados chipped away at the wickets thereafter, but Gudakesh Motie’s unbeaten 72 steered them to 314 all out. Ashley Nurse and Jomel Warrican took three wickets each.Joseph and Paul quickly reduced Barbados to 109 for 7 in the second innings. West Ham: Irons Make Move To Sign Marquee Striker

West Ham United are showing real ambition in their attempts to replace Gianluca Scamacca, with news coming to light on Eintracht Frankfurt star Randal Kolo Muani.

Who will West Ham next?

Earlier this week, the Irons completed their first major signing of this summer, as Mexico international midfielder Edson Alvarez joined the club from Ajax.

David Moyes had to wait long, and even saw moves for the likes of Carlos Borges hijacked late on, but Alvarez's arrival comes as a wonderful bit of news.

The 25-year-old could make his debut against Bournemouth today as West Ham gear up for their opening game of the season, with Moyes expressing his joy at the capture of Alvarez.

“We’re really pleased to add Edson to our squad,” he said.

“The midfield area was one we were especially keen to strengthen this summer – and Edson will complement the other options we have in that department. He’s an experienced international player, who has enjoyed great success for both club and country during his career to date.

“We’re excited about welcoming to West Ham and seeing him play his part in English and European competition for the club."

As we enter the crunch phase of this transfer window, attention will now turn to the signing of a striker, with Scamacca's departure to Atalanta coming as a real blow.

Read the latest West Ham transfer news HERE…

Moyes needs a proven goalscorer to come in the Italian's stead, leading to them making a rather ambitious play for Paris-Saint Germain and Man United target Kolo Muani, who could cost as much as £85 million.

The Bundesliga striker, who enjoyed a dazzling campaign at Eintracht last term, has been subject to interest from all over Europe and we can now add West Ham to that growing list of admirers.

Kolo Muani, according to a report by 90min, has been subject to an approach from West Ham who have moved for the player by enquiring about his summer price tag.

Not much else is said on how the Hammers want to proceed, but it's clear they have their sights set quite high in their bid to sign a proven striker for Moyes.

Alongside the likes of Man United and PSG, it is also believed Bayern Munich had him on their radar before swooping for Harry Kane.

How good is Randal Kolo Muani?

Randal Kolo Muani

The France international forward hit 26 goal contributions in the German top flight alone over 2022/2023, bagging 15 goals and 11 assists (WhoScored).

His frightening form has alerted some of Europe's top clubs and West Ham are now no exception, though they will surely face stiff competition for his signature.

Felix Magath, speaking to French newspaper L'Equipe on Kolo Muani, called him both "amazing" and a "very clinical" striker in the final third.

"He's amazing," said former Eintracht and Bayern boss Magath (L'Equipe via Bundesliga).

"He's not only a strong dribbler, but he's very clinical in the final third. I love his mentality; he's always thinking about the team. That's obvious when you look at how many assists he's got this season."

He could be the perfect Scamacca replacement, but it will be tricky to get a move over the line if West Ham decide to go further.
